"They did an amazing job, replaced about 360 bad bricks from my exterior walls and made it look like new. I highly recommend Masonry Doctors and have already used them again for some foundation crack repairs and will be doing business with them again in the future."
"Americana did excellent job installing our fence. Our sales representative was Mike Joudeh and he was very honest and caring. The girls in the office were amazing as well as our installation team. From beginning to ending everything was perfect. I would highly recommend Americana to anybody who needs a fence . Great job."
"Jeff, the owner, was extremely nice to deal with. He was courteous, professional, informative, and punctual. He came out to measure and then provided us with a very competitive estimate. His company had been recommended by a landscape architect, who we also saw on Angie's list, but who we didn't use. Aspen had very good ratings on Google also. We had to postpone work, as we wanted to trim several large trees first. We used Hendricksen Tree, which turned out to be a great decision. In fact, I have written a glowing review for them. Once that work was completed, we scheduled Aspen to come out. A crew of 4 arrived on schedule. We were very happy with the final result. The fence looks great and is a HUGE improvement over the one we replaced. The gate is extremely sturdy, which was a concern I had after seeing what happened to some neighbors who went with another company. I would not hesitate to recommend Aspen and will call on them again if and when we decide to do the back part of our yard.
"They completed it in about a week from the original estimate. They do excellent work, very impressive craftsmenship and the quality of the product is excellent."
"Had taken over management of owner occupied 3 flat apartment building. Recently leased apartment to new tenant. Found that work done on master bathroom by someone hired by owner less than two years ago was faulty. A leak in bath room in apartment above had been discovered and fixed, but who ever owner hired to do repair on water damage to this bathroom apparently never replaced wet wall board, just painted and tiled over! Also about time I was getting quotes for repairing this bathroom, I replaced the old drop-in stove top in the apartment with a new one. However the old unit had knobs in front, while new one had controls on top. This left a open cutout in front of cabinet. Tom had been out of town when I first started getting quotes, and I had almost decided on an other provider. However, he offered to meet me at the building at my convenience (I am only there once or twice a week) to see what was needed and give me a quote on the spot. He showed up on time. When I showed him the main 'job' - the master bath- I gave him minimum information. His answers as to what probably happened and what would be needed, depending on extent of hidden damage was spot on. I also liked his suggestions as to how he would fix the problems. As we went through the apartment I ask the tenant to show us anything else she felt needed to be 'fixed/adjusted'. Tom gave good answers to the few items she pointed out., and, while honest, did not put me into any bind or make apartment owner seem bad. After we left the tenant, Tom explained to me what he would do, and how long he expected to take. I also went into more detail about 'prior' fix with him at that time, though it appeared he easily was able to see what had happened. Tom gave me expected time to do all the fixes, and price. I was impressed that he just about promised all could be done in one day without disrupting tenant to any major degree. Also, he would be able start within a reasonable time frame, which was important to me. Tom came out and did the work with in the next week. While I was not able to be there at the time, I reviewed the work he did several days later. He did a very good job. Also, important to me, the tenant was also pleased and complemented his professionalism. He did quality work, timely, and at a very reasonable price. I am going to use Tom for future jobs as needed at the building. Not only I will recommend him to others, but here are some projects in the near future I am planning at my own home about which I will be contacting him.
"Rick was very professional and timely. He came out on the morning he said he would and replaced and repaired the posts as discussed during his initial estimate visit. He was in contact with us through the entire process. I would certainly recommend him to all of my family and friends. Great guy to work with!"
"Overall, the experience was positive. Derek and his crew were nice, professional, and punctual, once the job was started. Our new bathroom looks wonderful, especially for the outstanding price. We would definitely use them again, especially if it was such a great deal. The work was completed in a very timely manner. Derek offered to have tile installed on our walls as well, and did not charge us extra for the labor, which was incredibly generous, especially given the deal we were already getting, and it looks great! Especially given that we have a baby, I was expecting that having contractors in our house for a week would be a nightmare, but they were as unobtrusive as possible. Also, we only have one bathroom, so they made sure that we had a toilet in every night while the work was being done, which was a huge plus. In my experience, some companies offer big discounts to get business but then act as though they are put out by having to provide their service, and only do the minimum. This was not our experience with Home DM. They treated us as a valued client, and Derek told us several times that he wanted us to be completely satisfied and happy with our bathroom. We only had a few minor issues: There was about a week's delay from our original planned start time, due to a delay with the project before ours and in getting our village permits. Fortunately, my husband was able to change the days he had taken off work for the job. When the village did their inspection, there was one aspect of the plumbing that was not up to code and had to be changed. Overall, it did not change the end product or delay the work, but if the inspector hadn't required it to be fixed, it might have caused an issue when we sell our house or possibly caused an issue later with the plumbing. My husband said that one day a worker left the gate to our fenced-in back yard open. If he had not noticed in time, our dogs could have gotten out and ran into the street (so not a big deal, but could have been huge). We had a little trouble communicating our wishes regarding choice of vanity, fixtures, etc. to Derek. In the end, we got everything just as we wanted, but at the time, the process was a little bit stressful. This would not have been an issue if we had gone with the standard materials that are included in the deal. As it was, it would make things easier if they had an organized system for picking out materials for people who want to select their own. He seemed to sometimes not understand quite what we were asking or telling him, but we eventually got it figured out."
Installing a gate on your property is often a worthwhile investment, despite the initial expense. Gates enhance your home's curb appeal and can increase its property value, making them more attractive to potential homebuyers. They provide significant security benefits by keeping out unwanted guests and increasing privacy for your household. Additionally, a gate can help keep children and pets safely contained in your yard.
For driveway gates, automatic versions are particularly convenient and tend to add more value than manual ones. The choice of gate material also plays a role in both aesthetic appeal and security. Beyond driveways, side gates can improve accessibility to your rear yard, making the outdoor space more usable. Overall, whether for security, safety, or aesthetics, installing a gate is a valuable addition to a property.
To make your gate safe, purchase a gate made from strong material such as wrought iron, stainless steel, or other metals. Ensure that the gate has strong joints and bars that are welded on rather than inserted loosely. If you’re concerned about people climbing over your gate, you can deter them by installing fence spikes along the top as an extra precaution.
Double gates come with the same gaps as single gates, with hinges taking up a quarter of an inch of space. The difference is that double fence gates also have a center gap, which needs a little more clearance. Space the center gap at half an inch instead of the usual three-eighths of an inch for a single gate.
Installation typically takes 1-3 days, depending on the gate type and site conditions.
Automatic gate openers last around 10 years, but this time span depends on several external factors, like the type of gate they're attached to and how well you’ve kept up with general maintenance. Despite lasting a decade, you should still expect to complete one or two repairs in that time, as some components will fail before others.
