"I couldn't be happier with the job he did! He removed two large trees, ground both stumps completely, and cleaned up every bit of debris before he left. When he was finished, you couldn't even tell the trees had been there. He was professional, hardworking, arrived on time, and treated my property with care from start to finish. His attention to detail and thorough cleanup really set him apart. He did exactly what he said he would do, and the quality of his work exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend him to anyone needing tree removal or stump grinding. I would definitely hire him again!"

"Theron and Vince are some of the most reliable, efficient plumbers I know. They got me onto their schedule right away, showed up to give me an estimate looking very professional, and preformed excellent, clean work. I thought all plumbing companies were the same until I called Marathon Plumbing. I will be recommending Marathon to everyone I know from here on out. No one can beat their professionalism and honest work."

"Well. 1st plumber who looked at the system said shower valves needed to be replaced but that was a problem because there are no access panels. Chaub plummer advised valves were good quality and there was no need to replace. He replaced/installed new hardware and did a great job in a timely manner."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Hire a licensed contractor with proven experience handling cold-weather masonry work. Your professional must understand local building codes and secure all required permits for your project. Prioritize year-round Sun Valley contractors over seasonal workers, as they provide better accountability for warranties after harsh winters. Always request references from comparable high-altitude mountain projects to ensure the builder understands local drainage, heavy snow loads, and frost-heave challenges.

Helpful?

Proper maintenance for masonry work in Sun Valley involves annual fall inspections of your mortar joints to repair damage before freezing temperatures arrive. Apply a penetrating sealer every three to five years to protect surfaces from heavy snowfall. Clear weep holes behind retaining walls to prevent pressure buildup during spring runoff. Inspect chimneys annually, and check your foundation after the spring snowmelt to ensure water drains away safely.

Helpful?

Watch for flaking or chipping brick faces, which occur due to the intense freeze-thaw cycles in ID. White salt deposits appearing after spring snowmelt indicate water penetration. Crumbling mortar joints or horizontal cracks in retaining walls signal serious structural issues. Frost heave causes stones to shift or displace entirely. If you spot these signs, contact a local professional to inspect your masonry work and perform necessary repairs or full reconstruction.

Helpful?

Completing masonry work in Sun Valley requires planning around a short construction season from late May through early October. High demand creates scheduling delays of four to eight weeks before the project begins. You must also account for two to four weeks for local permit processing. Projects extending into late fall require a winter shutdown and resume in the spring. Plan ahead to ensure your project finishes before freezing temperatures arrive.

Helpful?

Safety during masonry work in ID requires strict adherence to state construction standards, including proper fall protection on sloped terrain. Workers must monitor air quality during summer wildfire events and wear respiratory protection. Afternoon thunderstorms present severe lightning hazards for elevated chimney projects. Wait until the ground fully thaws in spring before starting foundation work, as unstable base conditions create serious structural and physical hazards for everyone on site.
