"Shows up on time and does what they say they will do. I would highly recommend Shuler Contracting. We will likely have them back for more work around our place. Honest, hard working, good at what they do and pleasant to have on the property."

"Well. 1st plumber who looked at the system said shower valves needed to be replaced but that was a problem because there are no access panels. Chaub plummer advised valves were good quality and there was no need to replace. He replaced/installed new hardware and did a great job in a timely manner."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Several factors can impact the cost of waterproofing your basement. Some of the most common cost factors include:

  • Location

  • Square footage

  • Cause of the water leak

  • Type of foundation

  • Accessibility

  • Waterproofing method

  • Materials

  • Contractor experience and availability

  • Engineering reports, if needed

  • Structural and other repairs

  • Permits

Egress windows or doors are required in finished basements to meet safety and building codes. If your basement is unfinished and used as a storage space, egress windows are not required, but anything considered a habitable space must have an additional point of egress in addition to the stairs.

The purpose of soffits is to circulate air, so a blocked soffit means the air in your attic becomes stagnant. This can lead to a number of problems, mostly moisture-related, that can cause damage to your health and your home. The good news is that unclogging soffits is relatively straightforward, and if your attic is easy to access, an easy DIY project.

Preventative measures, such as maintaining drainage systems, installing sump pumps, inspecting roofs regularly, and crafting comprehensive emergency plans, can help mitigate future risks.

Topical sealers adhere to the surface of concrete to create a protective layer. In many cases, this is all you need for concrete that sees light to moderate traffic, such as your basement. Penetrating sealers, on the other hand, bond with the free lime in the top layer of concrete to form calcium silicate, which prevents liquid from passing through. This type of sealer protects the surface from water, oil, and gasoline spills.
