"Robert and Tammie from RTD Custom Carpentry did a wonderful job! We would highly recommend them for any project. They are knowledgeable and professional. We started our build with someone who unfortunately did not turn out and was making large structural mistakes. Robert was able to come in and make out home structurally sound. Robert and Tammie were also flexible when we decided to make some adjustments to the plans. They are very understanding and accommodating. They treat you like family! They are also upfront, honest, and affordable. We could not be more pleased with our project. We will definitely be hiring them again in the future."

"Hired Think n Tinker to install solar panels for lights and power in my shipping container at the back of the property, bout half mile from the nearest power line. Planned, ordered, and executed the project within a week, most of which was waiting on delivery. Canâ t recommend him highly enough."

"Erin is an extremely good carpenter who built a large covered deck for us this last spring. We had several contractors bid the job and Erin was very competitive with his bidding. His helpful concern for our construction saved us time and money. We noticed he kept the work area very clean; and he did not waste materials. He offered design ideas that enhanced our original design plans without costing us additional moneys. I highly recommend his company and intend to keep him as our go-to contractor on any further projects we decide to do. Max Simpson [email protected]"

"Justin remodeled our kitchen, 2 bathrooms and did the tile in our laundry room. He was very knowledgeable when it came to materials and budget. He was communicative throughout the entire process from start to finish, and answered all of our questions. I was very impressed with his timeliness and would highly recommend him to all my friends and family. He is our go to guy!!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

You can lay tile directly on a plywood countertop, but if it’s a high-traffic surface in a kitchen, it’s better to add a moisture-resistant base. Plywood is susceptible to moisture, so if dampness seeps through from the surface around the sink or where you prep food, it can cause the plywood to warp, leading to grout damage, cracked tiles, or mold growth under the surface.

Popular options include ceramic, porcelain, stone, and glass tiles, chosen based on the area (bathroom, kitchen) and desired aesthetic.

Uniform spacing between tiles is important for a professional and clean appearance. To achieve this spacing, tile spacers should be placed between the tiles and left in place until the mortar hardens and the tiles are secure. You can use X-shaped spacers vertically in between the tiles and laid flat at the corners.

The lifespan of tile flooring can vary significantly based on the material and maintenance. Generally, tile flooring can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, but high-quality, well-maintained ceramic tile can last 75 to 100 years. To achieve a longer lifespan, you should clean the tiles and grout regularly, reseal the grout annually, keep the floor dry, and avoid placing extremely heavy items on it to prevent cracking. Choosing a high-quality tile (Grade 1) will also contribute to its longevity.

The lifespan of bathroom tile can be 50 years or more, depending on proper installation and regular maintenance. A well-done tile job, whether it's a new installation or a retiling project, can last for many decades. To lengthen the life of your tile, it's best to have it installed by a professional and to perform regular maintenance. This includes routine cleaning, resealing, and regrouting as needed. With proper care, you can expect your tile to last 10 years or more before needing major repairs or retiling, especially in high-traffic areas where tiles can wear out more quickly.
