"Wyatt Watts Construction! Wyatt has a very strong work ethic. He shows up on time! He keeps his construction sight clean as he works. He only charges for the hours he works or sticks to the quote he gave us. He made sure we were happy with his craftsmanship. We were so pleased with his work, we trusted him enough to referred him to our Real Estate clients and they were thrilled with his work. He moved to Coeur de Alene and these clientsâ  family is begging him to come back to boise to do a job for them! If you want to know more, please call me at 208-941-5946- Linda Schlomer Accel Realty Partners"

"He did everything he was hired to do - and then did so much more. His work was excellent - he arrived on time, was courteous, and left the area clean. We will hire him again for all our carpentry work. We will give his name to all our friends who might need a finish carpenter."

"Pine Top did a phenomenal work! Payton the owner was personable and very patient with our requests. We were very particular and he hit it out of the park. We used them for a larger rennovation project in our home and they made our vision come to life. Every detail was paid attention to and we are beyond happy with the finished product"

"James did a great job for us building a wall. From start to finish he was here when he said he would be and finished on time even with a few speed bumps in the middle. Non of his own doing I might say. Thank you James you are on the top of my list for the next project. Trent"

"I had R.U.S.S Custom Builds come out and do a framing job for me. First off, the customer service and overall interaction with me as a client was on point. We got together, figured everything out and got straight to work. Russ is a hard working man who will get the job done right and and do it to the best of his abilities. He treats his customers fairly and with respect. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to get an amazing, high quality job done!"

Customers say: Quick response

"River City Handyman Service remodeled two bathrooms from outdated and drab to bathrooms that could easily be in House Beautiful Magazine or seen on HGTV. He replaced the countertops in my kitchen and built a gorgeous wooden bar top to replace the ugly grey Formica counter that separates the kitchen from the living room. He built a pergola in my backyard; All the projects were done to my complete satisfaction within the time frame promised, and without cutting corners. He is pleasant and friendly, yet professional to the last nail he pounds in. I would highly recommend River City Handyman to anyone looking for quality work that is reasonably priced."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.

Building involves setting foundation posts, framing with durable wood, adding roofing support, and protecting from elements with water-resistant finishes.

Your local building code will list all the framing requirements for whatever type of structure you're building. Most exterior walls require spacing of 16 inches on-center, while many non-load-bearing interior walls only require 24 inches of spacing. However, there are also varying requirements depending on your construction material, so checking your municipality's rules is essential.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.
