Heating, Air conditioning, Water Heaters (tank and tankless), ventilation and air humidification & purification since 1993. Free estimates on replacements and new installations of HVAC equipment and accessories. Competitive service rates. 24 hour service available on all brands. Eastern Idaho region covered. Licensed, insured and bonded contractor.

"I called around to make a few inquiries. I couldn't recommend this place enough if I tried. I got a quote for repair from another company, which misdiagnosed the issue. Ken came out to inspect the unit and found that the motor wasn't bad; it had just seized. He was able to oil it and break it free from last winter's bondage. Even if it only lasted another season, it was well worth a second look from a trained observer like Ken. The cost for repair?... a service call. This is a company that is ethical, which means even though my unit is already at end-of-life, I'll be calling Ken at Air Exchange first when it's time for a whole new system! Thank you, Ken! And at that, thanks to the whole team at Air Exchange Tech! Referrals are coming your way!"

"this company is awesome!. not only did they show up early for the appt, they completed the job in less than one day! Their bid was competitive and very fair. Howard, son Bill, and the entire crew are professional in every way! Hard workers who practice safety too. They cleaned up as they went along, raking and cleaning debris from my yard, driveway, and even the rood of my house. A very honest company who defines what costumer service should be. I recommend them wholeheartedly. Intermountain Tree Service gets an A+++ from me!"

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

You can control the flame on a pellet stove by using a damper, often located on the back of the pellet stove. While the damper function varies by model, you can open the damper slightly to let in more air or close it slightly to provide less oxygen, with the ultimate goal of providing a steady flame.

The short answer is yes, as hearths need to extend a certain distance out from the fire. This is usually around at least a foot in front but is often more, closer to two feet even. There is another distance to consider, which is the distance beyond the opening of the fireplace. Each municipality will have different code requirements.

Yes, you should seal an unused chimney. Even if it’s not in use, the structure is still susceptible to moisture damage, which can lead to problems like cracks, spalling, efflorescence, and damaged mortar joints. But you should also cap the chimney to prevent blockages while still allowing for air ventilation (which also prevents moisture damage). Also, continue to get an annual chimney inspection to prevent other issues with the structure.

Even if you aren’t using a home chimney anymore, you need to vent it at the top and bottom to allow for continuous airflow. A blocked-up chimney is still a chimney, so it requires annual maintenance and a professional inspection to ensure its structural integrity is intact. Consult a chimney professional about the ideal timing for venting an unused chimney.

Wood-burning fireplaces typically make homeowners insurance more expensive, simply because they increase the risk for a fire in your home. Gas and electric inserts are less likely to bring up your insurance rates, but you should always speak with your agent to understand how installing any type of fireplace will affect your premiums.
