You can use underfloor heating with most kinds of flooring. However, particularly thick carpet will create problems, since it will absorb a lot of the heat and make it difficult to feel. Also, there are some concerns that underfloor heating can dry out natural wood over time, so if you have wood flooring, get an expert opinion on whether radiant heating is appropriate.

Spring and fall are the best seasons for installing carpet. Both seasons benefit from moderate temperatures and low humidity levels, which can help the carpet acclimate to the room and settle properly once installed. However, installing carpet during the winter months could result in lower costs, as demand for this service is low.

If the stairs are already covered in carpet, you will need to remove the old carpet and possibly the carpet pad. Any damage to the stairs like cracks, loose boards, or creaky treads may also need to be repaired. You may also want to sand and refinish or paint wood stairs before installing a carpet runner.

To properly maintain and care for hardwood floors without damaging the finish, establish a regular cleaning routine. Sweep with a broom or microfiber dust mop daily, or vacuum weekly, to remove dirt and debris that can scratch the surface; be sure to clean in tight corners and under furniture. Plywood is the best type of subfloor for a mobile home, though if you’re installing flooring in a bathroom, you may want to install a vapor barrier or use a moisture-proof subfloor material like Amdry. OBS is similar, but it can swell when moisture is present. 

Either way, old mobile home subflooring made from particleboard can cause issues with your joints. If you’re replacing your subfloor, it’s best to upgrade to plywood.
