"Bart knows what he is doing. He located the problem after some troubleshooting which was impressive, considering the number of areas the problem could have been. Once he did that, he made the necessary repairs. After the repairs, he checked some switches on the panel with breakers built in for testing each respective switch, and found two out of the 3 switches did not test and were defective. He just could have packed up and gone home. It was late at night, and he had had a long day. But he went the extra mile, tested these switches, and advised I get all three changed out. He immediately told me these switches were a little pricey, but he recommended they be changed. I asked him to order them, and let me know when they were in. Bart is the real deal. His cost per hour is EXTREMELY reasonable; much more so than one local big electrical repair company in Idaho Falls I used to call. He will get all of my business in the future."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

Energy output depends on turbine size, average wind speed at your site, and system efficiency. A 5 kW turbine in a good wind location can generate 8,000 to 12,000 kilowatt-hours per year, which may cover a large portion of an average home’s needs. Accurate output estimates require a professional wind assessment and a review of your household’s energy usage patterns.

Homeowners can often access federal tax credits, such as the Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which covers a percentage of installation costs. Many states and utilities offer additional rebates, grants, or performance-based incentives. These programs can significantly lower your upfront investment. Check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) or contact your local energy office for current offers.

No, you should never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet in your house. This practice is extremely dangerous, often illegal, and can cause "back-feeding," where power from the generator flows back into utility lines, creating a life-threatening hazard for utility workers. It can also damage your home's electrical system, including appliances like pumps and HVAC fans. If the main power is restored while the generator is connected, it can destroy the generator and cause an electrical fire. To safely connect a generator, you must use a professionally installed transfer switch or an interlocking kit, which prevents back-feeding by disconnecting your home from the utility grid before the generator provides power.

Many services include assembling the unit and securing it in the window. Confirm with your provider.

If your home already has a grinder pump and you’re still noticing issues (like frequently clogged toilets and sinks), it could be time to upgrade your grinder pump. Start by checking your existing horsepower. If there are four or fewer people living in your home, using a 1/2-horsepower grinder pump should be sufficient. Larger households should consider investing in a 1-horsepower grinder pump to maximize wastewater removal efforts.
