Like any painted surface, tile paint can peel and chip over time. However, tile paint can become especially susceptible to peeling during periods of high humidity. Other sources of excess moisture will also cause tile paint to peel faster than normal. And if the tiles are in a high-traffic area, like the entryway floor, tile paint will chip and peel faster.

It’s fine to paint over acrylic paint with latex paint as long as the surface is properly prepped. If your paint surface isn’t glossy, you should be able to apply your paint or primer directly to it. If your acrylic surface is glossy, rough up the surface with some sandpaper first and use a good primer to ensure proper adhesion for your latex paint.

While you can do either, it’s easier to paint your baseboards before your walls. Painting baseboards first lets you tape off the trim instead of the walls. Also, it’s easier to cover up any mistakes on the walls since you’ll eventually paint them.

You technically can paint wires in a basement ceiling, but there are several important safety and code considerations. It's safe to paint non-metallic sheathed cable as long as the labeling remains visible. You can also paint low-voltage wires and conduit and junction boxes to help them blend into your basement. 

However, you should not paint damaged or deteriorated wiring is a fire hazard because it poses a fire hazard. The same goes for painting over high-heat wires that connect to heat-generating appliances or systems. A foam roller or a roller with a very short nap will give you the smoothest finish, especially when working with glossy paints. Thicker rollers will leave a slight texture on the wall, and shiny paint will reflect light, highlighting the imperfections.
