"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. Professional service since 1968. Earning respect one customer at a time. That’s how we’ve done it since 1968. Today, after serving 25,000 customers throughout Nebraska and Iowa, our reputation for excellence continues stronger than ever. Here’s why: We continue to forge the area’s most elite technicians through our intense in-house training program. We continue to possess some of the most cutting edge knowledge of heating, air conditioning and plumbing. But above all, we continue to provide our signature approach to customer service: we arrive on time, in a clean truck, in a professional uniform that displays the first name of a friendly, experienced technician ready to help. It’s a level of service that only the Thermal name can deliver. We feel we’ve earned that reputation through hard work and a humble commitment to being at the forefront of our industry. While we’re grateful to have won the awards displayed on this page, there’s no greater reward than a customer or client telling us, “great job.” That’s Thermal Services.

"They replaced a Draft Inducer Motor on my Trane XR95 furnace. The replacement motor was an OEM Fasco BLW01139 that averages about $300. It took them about 90 minutes to complete and they charged me $983.82. Overpriced I will not be using Thermal again."

We are a full service HVAC company offering service and installation on furnaces, air conditioners, boilers, geothermal, and water heaters. We also perform premier duct cleaning services along with boiler water quality testing and treatment. Des Moines Comfort, Inc. has been the metro's leader in Geothermal and Radiant Floor Heating service and installation for over 13 years. We offer yearly service agreements and service the entire metro and surrounding areas.

"Last night, our furnace stopped working and we woke up to 56° indoor temp and dropping. To complicate matters, our household is currently sick with COVID and we were unable to have a technician enter our home because of this. After speaking with Jackie (the appointment secretary), I received a call back from the manager, George. George was very kind and explained why they couldn't send a technician out (completely understandable). He then continued to offer to walk me through things to check to identify and possibly solve the problem. I stayed on the phone with him while he walked me through trying a few different things, and by the end of the 25ish minute phone call I had a working furnace again. I am so beyond grateful for the above and beyond service George and his company supplied to me today. Because of him, we have a warm home to recover in. Thank you, George."

Appliancezone.com is a leading on-line retailer of appliance parts and accessories for do-it-yourself homeowners. Incorporated in 2008, it was started by CEO, Jim Allen and his wife Paula, who operated an appliance repair business for nearly fourteen years prior to starting the internet company Appliance Zone.

"This is the first online review I've ever written -- my experience with this company was that bad. Three aspects that deserve attention: 1) I placed an order and tried to cancel six minutes later. Turns out they don't accept cancellations. 2) I couldn't find a phone number, so I had to work the return/refund by email. The exchange was painful -- so unhelpful I felt like I was interacting with a bad chatbot. 3) I ended up eating shipping costs (expected) and got hit for a 50% restocking fee (unexpected) because I refused the package instead of paying to ship it back. Didn't matter that it went to the correct address, was clearly labeled, and had prior return authorization. So I ended up with a $21 refund on a $60 order, and a lesson learned about where not to buy appliance parts."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Vents may blow air even though the air conditioning system is off because of the pressure difference between indoor and outdoor air or drafts from leaky ducts. Check for leaks or drafts in the ductwork or around windows and doors.

The general rule of thumb for figuring out how much AC tonnage you need in your home is that for every 500 to 600 square feet of space you need to cool, you’ll need one ton of AC cooling power. So, a 1,000-square-foot home will need 2 tons of AC power.

Yes, it’s normal for an AC to drip water. In fact, it’s part of the dehumidifying process that takes place inside your AC unit as the condensation trickles down into the drain pan. However, it isn’t normal for your AC to sound like it’s running water or have large puddles around it. If that happens, you can try the solutions listed above or call an AC repair pro.

A non-maintained AC is more likely to perform poorly, increase your energy bills, and undergo more severe issues like breakage and water damage. That’s why DIY cleaning or professional maintenance is recommended annually. Otherwise, you might end up paying more in the end than you would for annual service. You can purchase cheap AC cleaning kits if you prefer going the DIY route.

If possible, avoid placing furniture in front of a return air vent. A blocked air vent can cause your HVAC system to use more energy, which in turn can lower the life span of your unit and raise your energy bill. Furniture can also trap hot or cold air, damaging your furniture or appliances.

Professional duct installers suggest leaving between six and 12 inches of space in front of an air return vent. If you must place furniture in front of a return air vent, try to aim for putting furniture over a floor vent instead of in front of a wall vent, and avoid draping curtains over any vent system.
