"Nash and Miranda spent a week in our home completing an extensive whole-house electrical restoration and honestly became part of the family. They corrected electrical issues, replaced switches and outlets, brought smoke detectors up to code, installed whole-house surge protection, and left us with a clean, clearly labeled panel. Nash explained what he was doing throughout the job and coordinated power outages around two of us working remotely, so we could continue living and working normally. He also traced and explained confusing circuits in our older country home and answered every question we had. They were friendly, respectful, kept us informed, cleaned up after the work, and even earned the approval of our dogs and cats! Most importantly, I feel safer in our home. We wanted the electrical system corrected properly and brought up to code with no shortcuts, and that is exactly what we received. We would absolutely call Integra again."

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

Standard residential deadbolt locks come with a steel bolt that locks your door into place using a key (or keypad) on one side and a thumb turn on the other. When you lock it, the bolt slides into a strike plate on your door jamb to secure your door shut.

While many security cameras rely on an internet connection to transmit footage and store it in the cloud, not all of them stop working when the Wi-Fi is off. Some models are designed to function offline by using local storage options, such as a microSD card or a network-attached storage (NAS) device. These cameras can continue to record footage even without an internet connection. You can then access the stored data once the Wi-Fi is restored.

Keyless locks are great for convenience, letting you unlock doors with a code or your phone so you don't need to carry keys around. They also often come with helpful features like temporary codes for guests. On the downside, they can be more costly up front and do require batteries that will eventually need replacing. If you value ease of use and additional security features, keyless locks are worth the investment.

The main difference between different security sensor options is the type of motion each detects. A motion detector monitors obvious movements in hallways, entrances, and exits. On the other hand, a presence detector is more sensitive and captures smaller moves. A window sensor typically focuses on the opening and closing of the window, whereas a glass break sensor alarms you when a glass is broken.

Technically, there isn't a difference between safe rooms and storm shelters. Both are designed to protect you from storms and extreme weather events. People often use “safe room” when discussing a shelter inside a building and storm shelter when talking about a detached unit.

Additionally, a safe room is understood to have more functions than a storm shelter. You may seek shelter in a safe room when you believe an intruder is in the home or when under another type of threat.
