"The contractor (Dustan Fenton) for his appoint to look over the job at actually when he said he would. I like timeliness. I received a detail list of materials and two copies of his proposal to complete the work. He allowed me to purchase the materials and have them delivered to the job site. I wanted to make certain the materials were paid for but all of that was probably unnecessary since I be acquainted with him. Between the rain storms and frequent minor downpours they completed the job as close to on time as was possible. To get the job done they showed up early and worked until just before dark. Because this was an insurance claim he followed the directions of the insurance company so that I would recover everything due in the claim. This contractor did a great job. Cleaning up the yard of debris and especial the roofing nail during tear-off. This company is a good choice for your roofing replacement needs."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Asphalt shingles blister when air gets trapped between building materials, either within the layers of the shingle itself or in adhesives on the undersides of the shingles. As the roof heats up in direct sunlight, the trapped gas expands and creates a bubble in the roof. Eventually, the bubble can pop, leaving an exposed area of decking and underlayment.

You can only overlay a roof once. Any additional layers of shingles will add too much weight and may also violate building codes. Once your roof has had an overlay, you’ll need to have a full roof replacement, including a tear-off of all existing roofing materials, when it’s time for a new roof.

You may become so frustrated with the look of moss on your roof that you contemplate whether to clean or replace your roof. Fortunately, you don’t have to go as far as replacing it. After cleaning the moss, you can use a chemical solution to keep it away. For further protection, trim branches that overhang the roof, as fallen seed pods and leaves on the roof allow moisture to collect, encouraging moss growth. Consider adding zinc-coated flashing to the roof, too. As rain washes across the zinc, it leaves zinc particles behind that inhibit moss growth.

Clay tile roofing is common for traditional villas, while flat roofs are more standard for modern villa homes. Clay tile roofs are long-lasting, require little maintenance, and are great for warmer climates. Flat roofs are usually low-cost, energy-efficient, and allow for rooftop gardens.

While a few icicles on your roof are standard, a large accumulation can be a sign of a bigger problem, such as poor insulation. This is particularly true if you are also dealing with ice dams. If you have numerous large icicles, it is recommended to have a roofing contractor diagnose potential insulation issues and create a plan to solve them.
