The Jensen family’s history in electrical work spans three generations. It began with Kyle’s grandfather, who spent 47 years as a maintenance electrician with Mountain Bell. That dedication to craftsmanship continued with Kyle’s father, a well-respected electrical contractor in Southern Utah. Following in their footsteps, Kyle entered the trade early—starting as an apprentice at 16, earning his Journeyman license in 2002, and achieving his Master Electrician license in 2006. With that deeply rooted family foundation, he brings decades of hands-on knowledge to every project.\n\n

"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

Small jobs welcome

"Mark did a great job on what we asked him to do: install a faucet and a RO system, including adding in electrical outlet. He also installed a new exhaust fan and had to run larger run in the attic. We had a few changes as he got into the jobs and he was more than willing to adjust. All in all a good experience. We will hire him for more things we need done in the future."

"Darnell from Shiffy Appliance provided an outstanding experience from start to finish. He was extremely responsive, communicated clearly throughout the entire process, and made scheduling everything incredibly easy. When he arrived, he diagnosed and fixed our fridge quickly and efficiently without wasting any time. It’s hard to find service professionals who combine great communication with quality work, but Darnell absolutely delivered on both. Highly recommend Shiffy Appliance and especially Darnell if you need appliance repair done right."

"They were great to work with. Dana completely understood my project and sent me a very fair bid the next day. The work was completed the following week, exactly as promised. Dean and AJ were great; very knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely call Jensen with future electrical needs."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

When planning electrical projects in Cedar Falls, consider the area’s seasonal temperature swings and humidity, which can affect electrical components. Local building codes require permits and inspections for most jobs. Homes near the university or built before the 1980s may need panel or wiring upgrades. Scheduling projects in spring or fall can help avoid weather delays and make it easier to coordinate with local utility requirements.

Helpful?

Upgrading electrical systems in Cedar Falls improves safety and reliability right away, reducing risks like power outages and electrical fires. In the long term, these updates can increase your home’s value, lower energy bills through efficient systems, and prepare you for future needs such as electric vehicle charging. Modern upgrades also offer better resilience during storms, which is especially valuable in Cedar Falls’ climate.

Helpful?

In Cedar Falls, residential electrical contractors handle home wiring, panel upgrades, and smart home features, while others focus on older home rewiring, especially in historic neighborhoods. Commercial specialists serve local businesses, retail spaces, and industrial sites. Some contractors offer expertise in solar panel installation, electric vehicle charging, and emergency repairs, with a few catering specifically to university-area properties and rural agricultural needs throughout the region.

Helpful?

Combining electrical work with projects like HVAC improvements, kitchen remodels, or solar installations can streamline permits and reduce overall disruption in Cedar Falls. This approach is especially beneficial for older homes or those near the university, where multiple systems may need updating. Coordinating with local contractors can also help you qualify for efficiency rebates and ensure all upgrades work together for lasting value.

Helpful?

Be wary of quotes that seem unusually low, lack clear project details, or skip discussing required permits and inspections in Cedar Falls. Avoid contractors who won’t provide proof of insurance or references, or who pressure you to commit quickly or pay upfront. If they can’t explain how they’ll coordinate with local utilities or don’t have a verifiable local presence, consider it a warning sign.
