"Titan did a magnificent job on my property during the past week. I needed the following done: Grading work on my 3 acre property and three different types of rocks delivered. I also needed additional black dirt brought in to make it perfect. From start to finish the communication was excellent with Will. He let me know what time they would get to my job and everything that was going on during the work process. This is something that a lot of contractors just fail to do in my past experiences. They provide top notch equipment, with many different attachments for various types of jobs during the entire process. This ensures that the job is done correctly, the first time! Lastly, customer service could not be better. They (Will and Tim) stayed with the job until I was completely satisfied. Always keeping a great attitude no matter how many questions I asked. Even going the extra nine yards finishing the job better than I expected. "

"Salesman that we were to replace dry wall. Later learned we were to have it removed. Attempts to reach supervisors and owners resulted in zero until time to do installation. Gave $1300+ down. Note: this went to the salesman, not to MABS. Then salesman stated $12,000 more if MABS removed the dry wall. Paid salesman and his friend to remove it but didn't do all of it! Sent certified letters to Cedar Rapids address after we got no verbal responses to phone calls. Later learned they receive no mail there, only in Davenport. Were to have GFI outlet placed at far end of basement. 3 electricians said not possible. Also discharge was to be underground to rear of yard which we thought meant to back! House sits on clay. Was to discharge under ground out 10 feet from house. Canceled installation and have found that other basement waterproofing companies do not require 2.5 feet of dry wall removed: only baseboard. Cost was same as MABS. Now we must pay to have drywall installed after the waterproofing is completed."

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

In Allison, most plumbing projects vary in duration: replacing a faucet typically takes 1-2 hours, toilet installation 2-4 hours, and water heater installation 4-6 hours. Partial bathroom repiping may last 1-2 days, while whole-house repiping can take 3-5 days. Sump pump installation usually requires 4-8 hours. Permit processing and winter weather can extend timelines, especially for projects involving exterior or underground plumbing.

Helpful?

In Allison, PEX piping is highly recommended for its flexibility and resistance to freezing, which is crucial during the area’s cold winters. Copper pipes are reliable for main water lines but should always be insulated in unheated spaces. For drain lines, PVC works well but must be protected from frost. Consider frost-proof hose bibs, insulated pipe wrap, heat tape, and sump pump systems to address local soil moisture and prevent winter pipe bursts.

Helpful?

In Allison, homeowners often overlook insulating pipes in crawl spaces or basements, leading to freeze damage. Ignoring high groundwater or clay soil issues before installing sump pumps can result in poor drainage. Using mismatched pipe materials or skipping pipe insulation are frequent errors. Attempting DIY work without required permits or proper pipe sizing for local soil conditions can also create long-term plumbing issues.

Helpful?

In IA, be wary of quotes that are significantly lower than others, as this may indicate shortcuts or lack of proper licensing. Avoid professionals who don’t discuss local plumbing codes or required permits. Pressure to sign contracts immediately, requests for full payment upfront, or missing business addresses are warning signs. Always request references from past projects in the Allison area to ensure local experience.

Helpful?

Your Allison home is a strong candidate for plumbing upgrades if it was built before 1960, has persistent water pressure problems, or shows rust-colored water. Signs like basement dampness or shifting clay soil may indicate a need for drainage solutions first. Easy access to basements or crawl spaces is helpful, and scheduling major work during spring or summer is best to avoid weather-related delays, especially for projects requiring excavation.
