A) Workers sporadically showed up and spent as much time on "breaks" as on roofing leading to job taking much longer than promised. B) Underlying plywood was broken in several places during installation process. Contractor later admitted that, despite his recommendation to remove existing roof, it probably should have been just roofed over as other roofers had recommended. This despite his claim of many decades of experience. C) Severe damage was done to house eves by driving long nails through plywood. Contractor refused to fix, or compensate for damage. Several subsequent contractors (painters, Solar installers and service people) were shocked that contractor would leave so much damage without repair or compensation. D) Repairs to damage done is costing approximately $1000. He measured our roof and we discussed how theywould reroof our home and, latter that day, I received a bid by email from Tim, the contractor.After some easy clarifications of the bid and the addition of a refund clause if new copper flashing was not necessary, I approved the bid and Tim scheduled work to begin about a week latter.The crew began work on the scheduled day and had the existing solar hot water panels carefully removed by Halekala Solar.They used tarps to catch dirt and rubble around the house and also carefully covered any exposures with tarps during occasional sprinkles. They blocked only half of my driveway while working and removed their debris trailer each day.John worked with me to install fixtures for future solar photovoltaic panels and their flashings (provided by me).The jobtook just over a week due to some light showers and the result is well done and beautiful. They handed my metal chimmney pieces down to me and, after I primed and painted them, reinstalled them on the roof. The solar hot water panels were correctly reinstalled. Thier final cleanup was not as complete and careful as their roofing work, I had to move a few fixtures back into place on our deck and pick up a bit of debris. They also forgot an electric saw and some nail belfts that they picked up a few days latter. I delayed a few years to replace our roof since I was unable to find a recommeded roofer through friends. Seeing how well this crew did the work on my neighbor's house and how pleased my picky neighbor was with the result sold me. We are so happy. We had several roofers and handymen come out to look at our roof. The first guy showed up (must've been seventy years old!) with a hairless dog that he said was his "legal heart monitor). When we asked if he was going to go up on the roof he said, "My dog doesn't go up on roofs - so I don't go". How was he going to determine what needed to be done? We had guys that showed up two to three hours late and some eben smelled like they stopped off for a beer first!
The we say your commercial and contacted you. We found Steve "Mauis Handyman" and what a breath of fresh air! I do not usually take the time to write reviews but sometimes one needs to be written.
Steve was on time, clean and carried a note pad! He wrote everything down, got up on the roof - took pictures of the roof and explained in detail what should be done and let us determine what we did.
The job went smoothly and we laughed alot :). The house looks great and no more leaks! Steve recommeneded a seamless gutter company to do our gutters and they look great too!
I HIGHLY recommend Steve and will be using hime this summer to enclose our garage."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/hi/kula/maui%27s-handyman-service-reviews-6321532.htm"},"position":9},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"Bone Dry Roofing Inc - St Louis","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"HI","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Perry M."},"reviewBody":"Ron came out and gave us a bid on installing a new roof. Ron was very helpful and submitted the lowest bid out of 4 contractors. We went with Ron not because of the lowest bid but because out of the 3 other roofing companies Ron seemed to care about us the most.
The old roof was removed and a new one installed in one day. The workmen were very courteous and no damage was done to any of our bushes and all trash was picked up. I like the fact that the roofers hand nailed each shingle with 4 nails. The new roof looks great!
While we were in the process of getting bids our son bought a new house and his inspector found hail damage on the roof of his new house. The seller's insurance company inspector and a "handy man" they used found no hail damage. I asked Ron if he would inspect the roof and submit an estimate to fix any damage he might find. Ron found $2,000 worth of hail damage and our son asked the seller to credit him that amount, even though their insurance agent would not pay.
The seller credited my son with the $2,000 which was used, at closing, to buy additional points on our son's loan and over 30 years that will save our son a lot of interest money.
I highly recommend Ron - he went out of his way to help our family with our roofing problems."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/mo/st.-peters/bone-dry-roofing-inc--st-louis-reviews-475409.htm"},"position":10}]}

FAQs for roof ice and snow removal projects in Kula, HI
Generally, snow removal from a roof should occur once over six inches of snow accumulates, especially if you notice that ice dams have formed. Without ice dams, you can let the snow accumulation hit 12 inches before removing it. However, the amount of snow that is too much for your roof also depends on the sturdiness of your roof and the compactness of the snow. If your roof needs maintenance or has structural issues, it’s best not to let the snow accumulate too much for fear of collapsing.
While it is possible to remove snow from your roof without a professional, we don’t recommend it. Accessing your roof can be a dangerous task; pair that with slippery ice and snow that can be heavy to move, and you have a very risky problem on your hands. This dangerous situation becomes more high-risk when there’s a snowstorm or your roof has a steep pitch. To ensure that everyone stays safe, be sure to call a roof snow removal specialist to complete this job with the proper tools and equipment.
While removing every snowflake from your roof is unnecessary, you should remove a significant buildup of snow. Since snow is wet and heavy, it can easily cause damage to your roof, which can lead to needing costly repairs.
Additionally, when the snow melts but has nowhere to go and refreezes, it can create an ice dam, causing mold concerns due to water leaking into your attic and ceiling. For these reasons, it’s best to hire a snow removal professional to clear heavy snowfall from your roof as soon as possible.
Yes, some homeowners insurance policies cover roof damage caused by snow. However, these full or partial payouts can vary depending on the age of your roof and other related factors, like the overall condition it was in before the snowfall. It’s best to check with your specific homeowners insurance policy to determine snow damage coverage and exclusions.
The cost of removing snow from a roof averages between $300 and $700. However, this cost can range from $200 to $3,000, depending on the size of your roof, the amount of snow, and roof accessibility.
Since snowfall can range from light powder to heavy and condensed snow, part of the price of roof snow removal depends on the amount and type of snow. For 12 inches of snow, you can expect to pay between $200 and $2,000 for this job. However, for 24 inches of snow, that price rises to $300 to $3,000.
