"Highly recommend Reeves, Dennis came out on a weekend to give us a quote and 4 days later Lin showed up to do the work. Very professional, neat and cleaned up after. He even went over and above to fix a couple of grout areas that were worn down. Will definitely call them whenever I need tile work done."

"We requested specifically some added height to an existing concrete wall which required unusual layering of identical tiles to what we had. We were well accomodated and the cost was as proposed and accepted. Work was scheduled and completed almost immediately."

"Awesome, Kurt was extremely responsive and went above and beyond expectations to assist my wife and I in the kitchen renovation efforts. The tile installation went smoothly, it looks absolutely awesome. I will be requesting Symmetry Tile's services again when it comes time to re-do the bathroom, thanks!"

"Kyle did an amazing job in our home. He listened to everything we wanted and brought it to life. He took the time to explain everything to us and answered a million questions and his response time was very quick. His recommendations were awesome and it was clear that he had tons of experience in multiple areas. His tile design and installation skills are amazing. He has a multitude of talent in building and designing interior rooms from floors to ceilings and we are so happy with the outcome! We would definitely hire him again!"

"We live on a hillside with 30 fruit trees and a lot of overgrown vegetation. Scott and his crew came in and worked for 3 full days removing trees, weeding beds, trimming branches and taking all the rubbish away to make our space look amazing. The team could not have been a better example of hard work and pride in their craft. Early in the bidding, I tried to cheap out and have him just weed whack the weeds and he explained how they would grow right back and it’s worth it to have them take the time to remove everything the right way. I took his recommendation and so glad we did. I didn’t know backyard dirt could look that sexy! We were quick to find other projects for the team so we had a reason to bring him back and this week they are coming back to install French drain and gutter drainage pipes. I can’t say enough good things about this team and appreciate all they have done."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

No, you don’t technically need a cement backer board for a wall tiling project, but not using it risks disastrous moisture damage. Cement is naturally water-resistant, whereas drywall soaks it in, which can lead to warping or mold growth. Always use a backer board treated with a waterproof membrane for bathrooms and other chronically damp areas to ensure complete tile shower waterproofing.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

Tiling can be DIY with the right tools and skills, but challenges like ensuring evenness and appropriate adhesion often warrant professional handling.

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.
