"Ayla Tree Service was phenomenal! We had an issue getting a tree service out after hurricane Helene for six months!! I looked on Google for tree services near me for our community and I found Ayla! They were there the next day to give me an estimate! They started the job that next week! They understood the assignment and kept you in the knowing. These trees were not just cut but pruned, they know what they’re doing and they do it so well, that you couldn’t even tell there was debris made of any kind! The cleanup was fantastic! About 80 people living in one community and not one had an issue! We are very thankful for Ayla Tree Service and you will be as well!"

"Given a lack of hurricanes locally, Rickâ s tree service was able to give me an excellent price to remove two big pines and several smaller nuisance trees. After a short delay to get their crane fixed, they showed up on the day promised and not only removed the trees but also ground the stumps. I could not be more satisfied with their service and would recommend them highly. They were very professional and did quick work. I have zero complaints about their work and am quite happy to have contracted them to do the work."

"Of the several tree companies we contacted - Freedom Stump was the only one who responded on the same day. They provided a reasonable quote based on pictures we submitted (no separate trip to quote). Then, they showed up the next day. Professional, efficient, and a blast to watch them grind the stumps with the remote controlled machine. Cleaned the area and left before we even heard back from any other companies! Highly recommended."

"Noah Fitzgerald of Premium Landscaping is great to work with!  My husband and I just built a home and was looking for someone that would actually "listen" to what we wanted.  Even though we live on the coast, our home is located in a more country setting and we did not want the same ole "coastal living" look with palm trees etc. and were looking for a more serene look and low maintenance.  Noah listened to our ideas and made recommendations that would work for us and the area we live in.  He was prompt for every meeting and if he said he would be there working, he was.  He even helped facilitate finding someone to design and install our fire pit as well.  He goes out of his way to help his customers.   Professional, courteous, friendly and customer service oriented!

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You may be looking to identify maple trees to use for home improvement projects. In that case, you can tell hard maples by looking at their leaves. Leaves will have a U-shaped dip, or sinus, between the points, or lobes, of the leaves. Leaves of soft maples tend to have V-shaped sinuses.

If you already have the cut wood in front of you, look for a light, uniform color to identify hard maple wood and check for variations of red, gray, or brown streaks and an overall darker color in soft maple wood.

It can be bad to leave a dead stump in the ground. A stump becomes a hefty piece of dead wood in time and eventually (especially with the help of rain) starts to rot. That makes it a locus point for diseases and pesky insects, as well as a bit of an eyesore. It’s best to remove a tree stump completely before it starts to decay, especially before it starts to fall apart. If the tree was removed because of disease, it’s even more important to fully remove the stump if possible.

Generally, homeowners do not need permission to cut down a tree on their own private property, but there are several exceptions where a permit may be required. You might need a permit if the tree is particularly large, old, or a protected species, such as a heritage tree. Trees located near public property or power lines can also be subject to special rules. Additionally, many local governments and homeowners associations (HOAs) have regulations controlling which trees can be removed to manage an area's appearance or prevent the spread of invasive species. To avoid hefty fines, it is crucial to check with your local government and HOA to determine if a permit is needed before you begin.

Tree roots can take weeks to years to die, depending on the method you use. Chemical herbicides take the least amount of time—typically between three and four weeks—while homemade methods, like covering an old stump with leaves, could take between seven and eight years. If you’re unsure which method to use or how quickly you need to act, consulting with a pro is always a good idea.

Salt, herbicide, light deprivation, boiling water, and burning can all help dissolve a tree stump. You can also bury the tree stump in soil or mulch to help it rot naturally. Killing a tree stump prevents future regrowth, but you may also remove it by digging it out or grinding it.
