"After the plumber repaired the pipes they then took sections. There were two levels of the house that had water from the drain pipe leakage and then just removed portions of the sheet locks, portions of the . and then brought in big humidifiers and fans to dry. It took up part of the padding under the carpet and dried. In our case it was not bad. We caught it before it got really wet so the carpet had to be replaced. They did take out some of the padding. Basically it is the water removal. One of the employee did not connect the house to sink and the water was all over the floor and rug in a different place. It was an accident. It was not intentional. It was carelessness. It is again like the other employee and this one employee can give the company a bad name. . equipment and I have not seen them."

Lead Testing and Removal questions, answered by experts

Lead testing prior to purchasing a property ensures that the new owners are informed about potential hazards, prevents health risks associated with lead poisoning, and facilitates timely remediation.

Government regulations such as the EPA and OSHA govern lead removal procedures to ensure health and environmental safety during and after abatement.

A professional indoor air quality inspection takes anywhere from one to three hours, depending on the size of your home and the number of necessary samples. After the test, the specialist will discuss the findings, but you won’t get a full written report for 2 to 10 days, though you can ask your pro to expedite the process, if needed.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

No. Standard homeowners insurance does not cover any kind of lead remediation, focusing instead on sudden, unpreventable events like fires and theft. Many insurance companies will specifically exclude lead paint removal, since it tends to be an expensive and unavoidable project. The exception is if the lead surface is damaged during a covered event (like a flood) and homeowners insurance pays its replacement.
