"I had a great experience with Wilcox Septic Solutions and would gladly give them 5 stars. Mr. Melvin was incredibly professional and attentive right from the beginning. He took the time to personally walk the property with me, ensuring that every detail was covered before starting the project. Despite weather-related delays, which he promptly communicated about, I appreciated his understanding and flexibility. When the work finally commenced, I was thoroughly impressed. The lawn leveling and grading works like a charm, as evidenced by how well my yard handled its first heavy rain. It's clear that Wilcox Septic Solutions delivers high-quality workmanship. Based on my experience, I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone needing leveling and grading services and would not hesitate to hire them again for future projects."

"I just pay $75 you never know who's going to come out. They do everything electrical. Just about everything is covered except the septic tank. I had an air conditioner replaced. It went great, all I had to do was pay for the freon. He didn't charge e more than what was needed."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

The easiest thing you can do to prolong the life of your septic system is to adopt septic-safe practices. This includes not flushing non-biodegradable items, chemicals, or excessive grease down drains and scheduling regular septic tank pumping to prevent buildup. It’s also important to fix plumbing leaks promptly and to practice water conservation to avoid overloading the system. To maintain your drain field, avoid heavy vehicle traffic and plant shallow-rooted vegetation in the area. Most importantly, invest in routine inspections and maintenance to detect and address issues early.

Since vinegar is a weak acid with a pH of two to three, it’s generally safe for septic systems. It won’t eat away at the good bacteria in your septic tank and can help break down the sludge, which is its bottom layer. However, like with everything in life, moderation is key.

Yes, septic tank companies must be licensed in most states and municipalities to perform services like installation, alteration, repair, and pumping. Since laws vary by location, it's crucial to check local requirements.

Hiring an unlicensed professional can lead to poor work, code violations, and significant fines. Always verify that your chosen company is properly licensed and fully insured to avoid liability. You can use tools like Angi’s contractor licensing search to check a pro's credentials.

It's also helpful to understand the difference between licensing and certification. A license is a legal requirement to operate, while certifications are voluntary. Credentials like the “Angi Approved” badge indicate that a business meets extra standards, such as passing a background check and maintaining a high rating.

With so much available information about the ecological effects of cesspools (and their general unpleasantness), it begs the question: Are cesspools legal? In short, sort of. Large-capacity cesspools that serve more than 20 people are completely illegal countrywide. Existing, smaller cesspools are generally allowed as long as they’re not actively polluting. However, new cesspools are illegal to build in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, and many states offer programs to help homeowners with the costs of updating cesspools to modern septic systems.

Most deep wells can be expected to last somewhere between 30 and 50 years. This assumes that the well and all of its components are properly maintained on a regular basis. During this time, it is unlikely that modern deep wells will run dry over the course of their typical lifespan. That is one of the biggest benefits of digging a deeper well.
