"Lowcountry Foundation Repair came highly recommended by our contractor and they did not disappoint. The team was AMAZING! Super responsive, professional, very hard working and diligent. The team worked clean and did a gorgeous job on our crawlspace encapsulation. Alex and his team (Francis & Dedric) were THE BEST. We really had a great experience and are so grateful for their expert work. They're really an impressive team."

"The owner was responsive to provide a bid and started work on the agreed upon day. The foundation repair seems to be of good quality and I would recommend them for this type of repair. They work met all expectations for this portion of the project. We included a small tuck pointing project on a wall and masonry refinishing of a porch step as part of the contract. This small part of the project overshadows the entire job based on the poor quality of work. The pictures below show the tuck pointing AFTER the first attempt to fix the problem. They did not even touch the worst bricks at the top and poorly applied masonry on the bottom part as shown in the picture. On the step, they patched the a portion that was flaking and left the remainder of the step untouched. The owner said he didn't think we had agreed to fix the whole step (why would anyone only patch one foot of a six foot step? ...and it was specified in the contract). He made the requested repairs after the first attempt and less than two weeks later, the second picture shows the end results. It crumbled like sand without touching it! I emailed the owner and asked how he would like to handle the situation and he never responded back. Masonry work is not their specialty....Floors Sag and Shake doesn't apply to masonry! I don't normally write reviews, but I can't let this go without sharing."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

The success of masonry work in Dublin relies heavily on using the correct mortar mix. Older, softer bricks require a matching lime-based mortar to prevent cracking. Proper grading and functional gutters are also critical to protect foundations from expansive clay soils. Additionally, managing biological growth like moss and scheduling projects during mild weather ensures the materials cure properly and withstand the local climate for decades.

Helpful?

Repointing mortar joints or fixing a chimney cap is highly practical for standard masonry work. However, you must replace severely spalled bricks or leaning chimneys affected by the shifting clay soil in GA. If your home sits in a historic district, specific preservation rules dictate the materials and methods required, making proper replacement necessary to meet local standards and ensure lasting structural integrity.

Helpful?

In Dublin, chimneys and foundation piers require masonry work due to shifting clay soils and high moisture levels. Sun-exposed brick exterior walls also experience cracked mortar from intense heat and humidity. Additionally, retaining walls face heavy pressure from intense rain and tree roots. Check your brick stoops and driveways regularly, as these areas settle unevenly and deteriorate from weather exposure and heavy foot traffic.

Helpful?

Look for white chalky deposits, crumbling mortar joints, or stair-step cracks in your brick walls. These signs point directly to a need for masonry work. In GA, frequent freeze-thaw cycles also cause brick faces to pop off, which requires immediate replacement. Conversely, water stains on interior walls or damp crawl spaces stem from overflowing gutters or poor drainage rather than failing brick.

Helpful?

Schedule masonry work during the milder spring or fall seasons in Dublin to avoid extreme summer heat. Keep children and pets indoors with windows closed to protect them from harmful silica dust. Fresh mortar is highly caustic and causes skin burns, so fence off the work area entirely. Disturbing old foundations also displaces local wildlife like fire ants and copperheads, making a secure perimeter essential.
