Electricity makes the modern world go round. When your power shorts out, call Mr. Electric of Columbus, GA for quick and convenient repairs. We offer our electrical expertise in Columbus and the surrounding area. Your home or business is in good hands, whether you're hoping to overhaul the wiring or install ceiling fans. Our promise to you is the best work, whether your needs are common or complicated. We represent Muscogee County's electric solutions with pride.

"My problem was one kitchen light and one light switch. They were at my home for 1 hour 20 minutes then left to get the part at Home Depot. About 2 hours later they come back, it took about 30 minutes to replace the light and switch. Total they were at my house for about 1 hour 50 minutes. Now look below at the cost, then I will explain how the price kept increasing. Cost for the diagnostic (troubleshoot) was $177.10 Cost to replace light was $189.75 Cost to replace switch was $63.71 Total for 1 hour 50 minutes of work, diagnostic and labor $430.56. Now I will explain how they kept adding on: Safety check and dispatch fee is waived if they do diagnostic for $177.10, they have you sign for diagnostic. After diagnostic it will be $189.75 extra to replace the light, they have you sign. I asked for a estimate at the beginning, but the estimate turned out to be as you go through the repair. Sure you can stop the repair at anytime, but Mr. Electric of Columbus is the only one that Home Advisor recommended. There should be more options on Home Advisor than this one. I will never use Mr. Electric again. It was a costly lesson and I will ensure that anyone looking for a electrician not to use this one."

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

There’s no reason why you can’t install a ceiling fan anywhere in your home, such as in living rooms, offices, bedrooms, and dining areas. Most bathrooms already have ventilation and don’t need a ceiling fan. For safety purposes, avoid installing a ceiling fan where the blades will be less than eight feet from the floor, near bunk beds, or anywhere else they may hit nearby objects.

Ceiling fans can be a great way to cool your home without the expensive utility bill of running an air conditioner. Plus, ceiling fans can sometimes run in both directions, pushing hot air down in winter and pulling cold air up in summer. With that said, air conditioning might be the only thing that helps if you live in a very warm climate.

Since the cost of installing a ceiling fan is $250 for most homeowners, it might be beneficial to replace your existing fan if you are experiencing a significant repair issue, like a broken motor. However, for less expensive repairs, like a fan blade replacement, you’ll likely spend less on the repair than a complete fan replacement. Of course, if you’re looking for an upgrade or a new style fan, replacing it altogether is always an option.

It is relatively rare for a ceiling fan to fall. A properly installed ceiling fan is attached firmly to a ceiling joist. Even if the fan is wobbling, it’s unlikely to fall down. However, you should promptly repair your fan when you notice wobbling or imbalance just to be safe.

The most efficient ceiling fan height is 8 to 9 feet from the floor to the fan blades. For ceilings higher than 9 feet, a downrod can be used to lower the fan to the optimal height. This positioning ensures adequate air circulation and maximizes the cooling effect. Remember, fans should be installed at least 7 feet above the floor for safety.
