"Josh did an amazing job. He was very prompt and has wonderful customer service skills. You won’t be disappointed in his work. He removed pine straw, rocks and laid landscape matting. He outlined our flower beds with border brick."

"Great work! I had a nightmare of an overgrown yard and they cleared all the brush, took down vines, and even took out some small trees/bushes. All done in 2 days and the price was better than fair. Also prompt and courteous customer service. Highly recommend!"

"Slight communication glitch in setting up appointment but once set up, everything went fine. Vendor called the night before pick up (6/10/16) to confirm appointment. On the day of pick up, called to say enroute and again when about three minutes away. The window for arrival was from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm. and he got here right at 10:00. I had the junk in the bed of my truck so was able to ferry it up to his trailer on the street and short work was made unloading the stuff from my truck. There was ample room in the trailer so no jockying around or re-arranging of junk already in there. The whole process took less than 25 minutes. Mr. Fennell was friendly and professional throughout. I would not hesitate to use Ahnn's Movers again for junk removal.

Garbage Removal questions, answered by experts

Most garbage disposals have a reset button that can be triggered with a tool as simple and accessible as your index finger. That said, if you need to perform a more in-depth troubleshooting step, like manually moving the arms inside the unit or rotating the impeller plate, a hex wrench is the most common tool you’ll need. Most garbage disposals come with a hex wrench.

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.

The two main negatives of garbage disposals are they are a safety hazard in homes with children, and they frequently encounter blockage issues. While they might be annoying to fix and monitor, garbage disposals can significantly lower your trash use and are a great way to dispose of organic waste. While there are negatives, the vast majority of homeowners acknowledge the positives are enough to install a disposal in their home.

Replacing a garbage disposal costs anywhere from $150 to $950, but the average cost is somewhere around $550. There are two types of garbage disposal units, and continuous feed disposals tend to cost more than batch feed disposals. Going for an aluminum garbage disposal is also significantly cheaper than choosing a stainless steel garbage disposal. You'll also need to factor in the horsepower of the motor, labor, and the removal and disposal of your old unit.

As with many appliances, proper maintenance is key to maximizing your garbage disposal’s life span. If everyone in your household is on board with proper care and maintenance, like running water while operating the disposal, you should get plenty of years out of your unit. Avoid putting the wrong food items down the disposal, including pasta, rice, bread, and more.
