"Alberto with AB landscaping came by and gave me a quote for the landscaping work that included some slight grading of my back yard and installing Bermuda sod. We ordered the sod and the day before it was delivered Alberto and his crew came by and completed the grading work and returned the next day and layed the sod. Great job AB landscaping my backyard looks great. Thank you for a job well done"

"Very pleased with the work that was performed. Had to level the yard before the installation of sod. We are very pleased with the completion. Very easy to communicate with. Did everything he said he was going to do. Will definitely call Keyton Landscaping again. I highly recommend him."

"He did an awesome job with the exterior of our home, he poured a cement walkway for us, he also did custom pavers that looked like they were floating, and he did landscaping around our pool. He did a retaining wall that had integrated lighting. He was great working with other professionals. He was also punctual, great with communication, and he was flexible with overcoming any hurdles that came up as well. ."

"Deveaux Specialty Contractors did a great job on my landscaping. The crew was professional, showed up on time, and worked efficiently. Everything was done with care and attention to detail, and the finished result came out exactly how I hoped. Communication was easy throughout the process, and the area was left clean when they were done. I’d definitely recommend them to anyone needing quality landscaping work."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Multiple rules of thumb exist when discussing tree planting. When planting a tree, the best rule of thumb is to provide it with everything it needs to survive and thrive in its new environment. That may mean learning about the type of tree you're planting and studying the best methods of taking care of it before purchasing and planting.

Grass is the most popular and safest option for planting over a septic drain field, but you can also plant small flowering plants and other lightweight plants that don’t have woody or deep roots. Avoid trees and bushes within 10 feet of the field, as the woody roots can crack the perforated pipes. You should also avoid planting vegetable or fruit gardens over your drain field, as a leak from the pipes could contaminate the soil and put anyone who eats the produce at risk.

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

Buying plants from a nursery is one thing, but ensuring that they are properly planted is another. While you might not need to hire a landscaper for every plant that you buy from a nursery, it’s a great idea to have their expertise and experience to plant larger items, like burlapped trees or specialty plants like rose bushes. Even better, before making a trip to a nursery to buy new plants, consult a local landscaper to test your soil for pH levels, soil texture, and phosphorus and potassium levels to help determine the best plants for your area.

DIY home gardening can be relaxing, joyful, and cost-effective. From mowing your lawn to planting your own flower beds, there is a wide variety of gardening tasks that you can do yourself to make your yard look beautiful. If you’d rather spend your time not in the dirt, or if you’d like someone to take care of your plants for you, calling a professional gardening service is best. They can give you a workup of what services you’ll need and how often to schedule them.
