Storm damage specialists, wind, fire, water, insurance claim specialist; hail, tornado, torrent downpours, fierce winds, flooding, total and partial fire and smoke damage

"Mr. Diamond came a day late for the quote. I gave him full payment expecting him do come the following Saturday while I was out of town. I called him to see how it was going and he told me it was raining here would do it the next Thursday. Then he said the same excuse and on and on. It's been 2 in a half weeks and still no roof finished. He sent a crew Friday and they left a half poorly done job. Now Mr. Diamond will not take my calls again. I tried to get my money back a week ago but he refused. I have given him more than the benefit of the doubt. With all the storms please be aware of this when you choose your contractor."

Asbestos Removal questions, answered by experts

In the event of suspected or confirmed asbestos contamination on the body, it is imperative to take immediate measures to reduce health risks. To avoid further exposure, carefully remove contaminated clothing and shower thoroughly to remove any asbestos fibers. Seek prompt medical attention, and inform your healthcare professional about your suspected asbestos exposure. Since asbestos-related health issues can take years to surface, regular medical check-ups are advised for anyone with a history of exposure.

To seal off, or encapsulate, asbestos-containing materials in your home, you’ll need to utilize a sealant specifically designed for asbestos encapsulation. These sealants bind with asbestos fibers to keep them from spreading throughout the air and causing bodily harm. In many cases, these sealants can be simply painted on, but you’ll need to wear a protective body suit as well as an asbestos-rated respirator to interact with these materials safely.

While asbestos can’t be directly absorbed through the skin—the fibers are too big—skin contact can still produce symptoms. Contact dermatitis can flare up in sensitive individuals but in most cases, the danger from asbestos comes from inhaling the fibers, or dust, that is produced when asbestos is disturbed. If you touch asbestos by accident, immediately wash yourself and your clothes.

If you suspect exposure to asbestos, prioritize seeking medical advice by informing your healthcare provider about the potential exposure with clear details about the circumstances that led to the exposure. Regular health check-ups and screenings if you work in high-risk industries or live in a home with asbestos are essential for early detection of any asbestos-related conditions. You should also consider consulting occupational health experts or legal professionals for guidance on potential next steps and preventive measures.

You can cover asbestos siding with another type of siding, such as vinyl, however, this may not be the best option. Covering the asbestos siding may disturb it, releasing fibers into the air. The covered siding can also be disturbed at a later date, such as by a new homeowner who is unaware of its presence.

If you decide to cover the siding, be sure to work with a professional and follow any local building codes and requirements. It may be the case that removing the asbestos siding is the better option, rather than covering it over.
