"One of the best decisions I ever made with my home was hiring Best Cleaning & Restorations to come in and restore my master bathroom shower. The shower and surrounding glass and tile was in bad condition from 5 years of wear and tear and Louis (company owner) came in and through hard and detailed work got it back looking as good or even better than the day it was purchased. Louis is also extremely professional and thorough of his explanation in what needs done and how to do it. His prices are extremely reasonable and I would recommend him and his company to absolutely anyone. I will certainly be using him and his company again in the future."

Small jobs welcome

"It's the second time we hired Xavier & All Surface Experts. We had some discoloration on the cultured marble in our bathroom. Xavier and his crew buffed & resurfaced the surface to look as good as new. They also caulked an area in our shower, which needed doing, without being asked to. Xavier is a perfectionist and it shows in his work."

"We selected this company from 6 different bids to resurface our marble kitchen countertops. They were the most professional, had the most experience and the best trained staff, and although they weren't the cheapest their bid was in the ballpark. Their presentation of their qualifications was the best of any of the companies we considered, and the detailed explanations they gave for their estimate were the best. They were easy to schedule for both the estimate and the actual work. They showed up on time, took elaborate care to minimize mess, cleaned up perfectly, and most importantly, did a superbl job. Highly recommend this company."

Marble Restoration questions, answered by experts

Marble is high maintenance, like most other types of natural stone flooring. However, because it is naturally a more porous stone, there are a few added care instructions. You will need to clean it often to prevent dirt and grit from scratching the finish and surface, keep it dry, clean up spills immediately, and have it professionally sealed and refinished at least once a year to maintain the shine and water-tight surface. However, investing in maintenance is a smart move because marble floors are among the most beautiful and valuable types of flooring when properly cared for.

Yes, you can generally put hot pans directly on a granite countertop without worrying about cracking, as it is a durable, heat-resistant stone that can withstand high temperatures. However, it is still highly recommended to use a trivet or hot pad as a precaution. Prolonged or repeated exposure to high heat can potentially cause discoloration or damage the countertop's sealant, making it more susceptible to staining. Additionally, the heat from a pan can transfer to the granite, creating a burn hazard for anyone who touches the surface shortly after.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface materials can be cut with standard woodworking tools, such as a circular saw or a jigsaw. However, it is crucial to use the correct type of blade to avoid damaging the material.

For a circular saw, a tungsten carbide-tipped blade is required; a triple chip grind blade is highly recommended. For a jigsaw, you should use a fine-tooth down-cutting blade. Do not use blades designed for cutting wood, as they can cause microfractures that weaken the edges of the countertop. A diamond blade is also unnecessary, as those are designed for harder materials like natural stone, which Corian is not.

After cutting, the edge will be rough. It is essential to sand and smooth the cut edge to prevent microfractures, which can eventually compromise the integrity of the countertop.

To remove cloudiness from marble, use equal parts baking soda and water to form a paste. Apply it to the surface, allow it to sit for at least two hours, then wipe with a microfiber cloth. Another option is adding a couple of dish soap drops to warm water and wiping the surface after you’ve applied it to the surface. You may also consider using a liquid stone cleaner.

You can cut granite countertops after installing them, but you need to consider the mess it will make. Dust will be everywhere, and lots of protective gear will be required. On top of that, you will need to measure meticulously to make sure the cuts you make are perfect; otherwise, you’ll be stuck having to replace the entire slab of granite, which is a much bigger job.
