"Top-notch tile work and great communication! We hired Sarasota Perfect Tile for a full bathroom tile remodel, and the results are stunning. The crew was on time every day, cleaned up after themselves, and paid attention to every detail—especially around corners and edges. You can tell they care about doing the job right."

Customers say: Quick response

"Mikhail gutted and remodeled two bathrooms and tiled a lanai for us so it was a five week process. Mike is a very hard worker sometimes working late into the evening in order to stay on his promised schedule and he always met his commitments. The quality of his work is outstanding and meticulous and it seems he can do about anything and do it well. He never said "no" to anything we asked nor any changes we imposed on him and he never compromised on quality. He is very focused but easy going and a pleasure to have around. His pricing was fair and he never left our project in order to work on something else. I simply cannot say enough good things about this fine young man. Hire him...you won't be disappointed."

"When I contacted Alex, it was my lucky day. He scheduled a visit to look at the tile project, sent an estimate and picked up the tile. He and his colleague were extremely knowledgeable, efficient and professional. I cannot praise them enough. Their clean up was five star when the installation was completed. In addition, they were very friendly and polite and kept me involved during the process with clear explanations."

"They did 2 jobs for me, tiled the lanai, and removed the existing tile and retiled a shower floor. The cost was reasonable, the results were perfect, exactly what I had hoped for"

"Removal of old tile caused extra dust and furniture and surroundings were not properly protected. Quality of work was excellent until I found a mistake in laying the pattern and it was too late to correct. I have to live with his mistake."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Glass, ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone are all excellent choices for tiling a shower floor. Some glazed finishes can be slippery when wet. Your tiling contractor can provide more information on which tiles will work best for your shower floor.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

Tile shouldn’t be set tight against the tub. Bathtubs can expand when filled, and they can shift slightly with the weight of occupants. For this reason, it’s important to leave a slight gap between the bathtub and the first row of tile. Aim for a narrow gap of approximately 1/16 of an inch, filled with caulk, to allow for this expansion and movement while still allowing for tile shower waterproofing.

Granite countertops cost an average of $3,250 compared to $2,250 for tile countertops. Granite is also harder to DIY than tile, given its weight and bulk, which increases the overall labor cost of installation. Over time, both types of countertops may need sealing to remain resistant to water, heat, and other common kitchen elements.

The underlayment determines a ceramic tile’s sturdiness, and a cement board or backer board works best. Be sure to tape the joints when using these materials, and consider laying it on top of a layer of thin-set for more stability.
