Small jobs welcome

"Chrystian installed crown molding throughout our entire house. It looks absolutely beautiful. There were some tricky spots around the doorways and air vents where there was very little room. Chrystian meticulously worked around these problems and it looks like a perfect custom design. Pricing was fair, workmanship was excellent and the finished product is top quality. We are very pleased with the outcome and highly recommend his company Angelletta Inc."

Customers say: True professional

"Robert, Did some custom wood work for an antique bed that my fiance and her late father refurbished together. This bed is now the showpiece in our guest room, and we are very grateful to Robert for that. He also made a beautiful one of kind wood and glass two-stage credenza to display the wine glass and decanters at a venue that I manage in Sarasota. We get compliments all the time on this beautiful piece. In short, Robert is professional, creative, takes in your vision, and will complete the project in the time frame that he promises. I would highly recommend him to anyone; his craftsmanship as a carpenter is second-to-none."

"I will complete this review in a few days in order to do it right. Lets just say it will be a bit longer than a simple thank you. Would I hire Jacob again? In half a heart beat. Stay tuned for a dissertation on Jacob and Kevin."

"The owner John and his associate Michelle were pleasant and helpful in decision making. They use quality wood in their cabinets. They show up when they say and cleanup. My new custom kitchen looks wonderful as do the custom built bathroom vanities, built the way I requested. Definitely recommend this company."

"He demolished kitchen cabinets and a bathroom vanity and installed new cabinets/vanity in a very old cottage in Sarasota where nothing was level. He also installed the countertops and painted the interior and exterior. He is reliable and his prices are excellent. Best handyman I've ever worked with."

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

You don’t need a cutting board. In fact, cutting is the original purpose of butcher block countertops. That said, wood is porous and can harbor germs. You’ll need to clean your countertop thoroughly after use. Knives can also scratch the surface. This adds to the patina of the wood, but not everyone likes the look—in which case, you may want to use a cutting board.

While you may have heard people use millwork and carpentry interchangeably, they aren’t the same. Millwork is a type of carpentry, which means that carpentry isn’t always millwork. You can tell millwork apart from other types of carpentry because it’s manufactured at a mill. Notably, casework is also confused with millwork. Casework is different because it refers to boxes like cabinets and bookshelves.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

A contract should outline the scope of work, timelines, costs, payment schedule, and materials used for clarity and protection.

Spindles on a deck may also be called balusters or pickets. While not as important to the structural support of the deck as the rail posts, they play a critical role in ensuring the deck is safe to use by closing in large gaps in the railing. For this reason, balusters must be no more than 4 inches away from one another.
