"Andy's expertise and outstanding customer service is the best. His willingness to go that extra mile is beyond expectations. He was very helpful in getting our home inspection taken care of and provided us with details about our new home where we stood regarding Wind mitigation. He was very punctual, knowledgeable and truly represents legendary customer service. So if you want someone that is there supporting your interest than I would highly recommend his services. We have found our Home Inspector for life, there will be no one else that we will call"

"I was so impressed with the home inspection on the first property, I had to have Wise Inspection do the inspection on the second property I wanted to purchase. My supervisor, who is a certified HUD counselor and teaches the First Time Home Buyer class for the County's Extension office was very impressed with the report. She commented that it was thorough and detailed. Customer service was great: Because I had used them before, they offered me a discount on the pest inspection report--a required document I needed to purchase the home."

"Our GC hired J&B to find/repair a leak at the house we had just purchased in 2021. Since then John and Bobbie have repaired other issues we have had that previous repair contractors had no idea how to. John was/is so knowledgeable and went above and beyond to remedy issues we didnâ  t even know existed. I still call him to ask his opinion on other issues we may have with our house and not only does he still answer me, he refers to me as a VIP customer and makes a house call! He can fix anything or will give it his all to find a way to solve an issue. Call them, you will be happy you did!!!"

"Tremendous: On my first call, Appraiser answered the phone & scheduled property inspection for that SAME DAY. Report was completed & delivered 3 days later. Other appraisers wanted to schedule property inspection a couple weeks later & estimated completed appraisal report in about a month. In addition to be quick, they were very professional & easy to deal with. 2 ??"

Home Inspection questions, answered by experts

Make it easier for your inspector to do a thorough assessment by preparing your home ahead of time. That includes:

  • Noting any signs of pests around the home

  • Removing obstacles in the way of the attic, basement, plumbing, garbage, and other key areas that inspectors will need to access

  • Keeping children and pets away from inspection areas

You can check your home's humidity in a few ways. A simple option is to use a hygrometer, which you can find at a hardware or big box store. Your smartphone may also have an app that can measure humidity. Modern thermostats, particularly smart thermostats, are also able to measure humidity levels.

A home inspection typically takes between two and three hours, though the total time can range from 30 minutes to half a day. The exact duration depends on several factors, including the home's size, age, condition, and location. Other variables that can affect the timeline are the complexity of the layout, the accessibility of various components, the size of the surrounding grounds, the inspector's experience, and whether it is a full home inspection or a more limited structural inspection. For a more accurate time estimate, you can ask your potential home inspector to review the specifications of the home beforehand. You should receive the completed inspection report within one to four days of the inspection.

Most chimney crowns cannot be seen from the street or yard. As a result, most homeowners are completely unaware that their damaged or deteriorating chimney crowns need repairs or replacements. Chimney inspections offered by contractors can verify any damage.

If you are considering buying a home with a cesspool, you will need to weigh the potential costs and hassles. Your primary decision will be whether to maintain the existing system or replace it. Maintaining a cesspool involves ongoing expenses for services like aeration, pumping, and cleaning. Alternatively, you could dismantle the system and replace it with a modern septic tank or connect to a public sewage line, which involves significant upfront costs. It is also crucial to check local and state regulations, as some jurisdictions require that cesspools be replaced before a home can be sold. Ultimately, you must decide for yourself if the financial investment and effort are worth it for the property in question.
