"My house is now the "gem" of the block! The painters were all friendly, courteous and responsive. There was much attention to detail and the property was left clean and protected each day. The provider checked in frequently and kept me informed of any issues (it was amazingly easy to work with Mike). The project was completed in a timely manner, and the work is superior. I will most certainly contact Preferred Painting again. Outstanding!"

"I had a great experience with Zion Paint Pro! They painted my bedroom and the kitchen and both came out amazing. The quality of work was great and they were very knowledgeable and friendly. They also did epoxy flooring in my garage and I was very satisfied on how it came out. Prices were also very reasonable."

"I recently had the interior of my home painted, and I couldn't be more thrilled with the results. From start to finish, the team was professional, punctual, and incredibly detail-oriented. They took the time to properly prep every surface, protected my furniture and floors, and delivered a flawless finish that completely transformed the space. What impressed me most was their commitment to quality. Clean lines, smooth coverage, and zero mess left behind. It?s clear they take pride in their work."

Painting questions, answered by experts

You can paint an old wooden fence, but make sure first to do a deep clean (ideally with a pressure washer) and inspect the fence for any existing damage. Painting over dirt and debris will cause your paint to peel. Once you’ve cleaned and repaired any minor issues, use a primer and high-quality satin paint.

You can use latex or acrylic paint outdoors. Although acrylic paint tends to last longer outside, it also costs more, so if you’re painting the outside of your house, for instance, latex paint is often a go-to option. However, acrylic will be your best choice if you want to spend some extra money for added durability.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.

Wood stain does go bad, but it will last in the can for between three and six years, provided you use proper storage techniques. Storing wood stain in open containers or in extremely low or high temperatures will cause your wood stain to become unusable much more quickly. Water- and latex-based wood stains typically last for just two to four years, while oil-based wood stains can last for three to six years.
