"Vendor was out of stock, in his vehicle, of a necessary repair component. I was charge $200 for a partial completer, then another $150 to bring and install the component. Should have been completed the first time and pricing more competitive."

"Zak was the first to respond to our Angi inquiry and was very professional and reasonable in pricing. Zak was in touch several times about their schedule, being mindful of my time. Zak and Phil came the next day and completed the work in half the time we expected. We highly recommend Coastal and would definitely use them again!"

"I had a great experience with Bryan. He was professional, on time, and explained everything clearly. My sliding door was not working properly, and now it feels like brand new. He cleaned the track, replaced the rollers, and made sure everything was running smoothly before leaving. You can tell he really cares about doing a quality job. I definitely recommend his services to anyone needing sliding door repair. I’ll be calling him again if I need anything in the future."

"Veteran Authority is a first class group of hard working military veterans. A great group of guys. It wasn’t easy but they removed a massive growth of hedges, trees, deep roots & stumps. I will definitely use them again for this and other types of work that they do. I highly recommend."

"Very competent service. Steven provided us with a contract spelling out exactly the work we requested. His team showed up on time and completed the work ahead of time. The work involved removing a section of the front lawn, and grass side strips, and replacing them with pebbles to reduce water usage. Steven's team went the extra mile by incorporating some of the better sod they'd removed into the remaining lawn in order to improve its look and quality. Their clean-up afterwards was exemplary. Highly recommended!"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

No. Standard homeowners insurance does not cover any kind of lead remediation, focusing instead on sudden, unpreventable events like fires and theft. Many insurance companies will specifically exclude lead paint removal, since it tends to be an expensive and unavoidable project. The exception is if the lead surface is damaged during a covered event (like a flood) and homeowners insurance pays its replacement.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), hazardous waste is generally classified into four main categories:

1. Characteristic Wastes: These exhibit at least one of four hazardous traits: ignitability (flammable, like gasoline), corrosivity (can rust or decompose materials, like car batteries), reactivity (unstable and can explode, like aerosol cans), or toxicity (harmful when ingested, like lead-based paint).

2. Listed Wastes: These are specific wastes from manufacturing and industrial processes that the EPA has officially designated as hazardous. They include byproducts from processes that use solvents, pesticides, and other chemicals.

3. Universal Wastes: These are commonly generated hazardous items that are subject to streamlined regulations. Examples include batteries, pesticides, mercury-containing equipment (e.g., bulbs), and some lamps.

4. Mixed Wastes: This category includes waste that contains both hazardous and radioactive components, making it subject to regulation by both the EPA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

The safest way to remove lead-based paint is by letting a professional take over. For most people, lead paint removal costs an average of $3,400. You should never attempt to dry sand old lead-based paint surfaces by hand. Most professionals use a paint stripper to do the job followed by wet scraping, but if you don’t want to remove lead paint, another option is to paint over it. Only consider this option if the old lead paint finish isn’t flaking or cracked.

The best disposal method for hazardous waste is to take it to a professional dumping facility that specializes in and accepts hazardous materials. These facilities will dispose of the materials in a way that is safe for both humans and the environment. If you don’t have access to a nearby facility, the best way to get rid of hazardous waste is to call a professional garbage removal company who handles disposing of hazardous materials .

While not all homes built before 1978 contain lead paint, enough do, so you’ll still want to test to be on the safe side. The federal government banned lead-based paint for homes in 1978, but your state may have banned lead before that time. Around 24% of homes built between 1960 and 1977 contained lead-based paint, while 87% of homes built before 1940 contained lead-based paint.
