"Our experience with this company has been great! We have used their services in the past and was very, very pleased with the work they did for us. Because we were so satisfied with their services, we reached out to them once again to take care of our exterior waterproofing and termite problem. As always, their professionalism is above par. They solved our issues in a timely, thorough and affordable manner. I highly recommend their services to others."

"They first tried routing from the roof because our clean-out was buried and we couldn't find it, but after adding a lot of extra cable Steve finally reached a block in the back yard that couldn't be resolved with that machine. He came back the next day, installed a clean-out and used the stronger, larger router fed through the new clean-out. He was able to break through the block and reach into the city sewer connector line. It was expensive, but I'm happy to pay for a solution to an ongoing inconvenience and money trap. Garrett charges by the hour. Here they worked quickly and well and they're going to follow through with the City to discuss their sewer line. I've been looking for a reliable, honest plumbing company for years and I'm happy to have finally found one.

"We live in an older house in West Tampa. After pretty much a total remodel of both bathrooms and the kitchen, we experienced a homeowners nightmare...a plumber was doing periodic maintenance on our cast iron infrastructure when a pipe broke. After analyzing solutions with them, which included knocking out walls in both bathrooms, the owner handed us off to APEX. Joe and Mike came over to the house and examined what we had & took pictures. After running cameras through everything, they developed a hybrid solution that involved undermining accessible pipes and replacing with minimal intrusion as well as refurbishing and epoxy coating the remaining small segments of cast iron that would remain. Joe sat down at our dining room table and mapped it all out; showing us video of each problem point as well as what was salvageable & gave us a price. We signed off on it. With much apprehension on our part knowing our home was about to be dissected, Elliot and John arrived to start work. They were prompt, respectful, & empathetic to our dilemna. They were also insistent about putting protective paper down everywhere they worked to protect the flooring. At the end of the day, they swept, vacuumed, and mopped any debris that was remaining. This was the standard throughout the entire engagement. Their workmanship and attention to detail was spot on. All of Joe’s guys were phenomenal. John, Elliot, Matt; I cannot remember all their names, were consummate professionals of the highest degree. I would not hesitate to recommend APEX Plumbing."

Basement Waterproofing questions, answered by experts

Mold and other fungi love moisture, so the best way to prevent mold growth after water damage is to remove as much moisture as possible. First, find the source of the water or moisture, such as a leak or clogged gutters, and correct the problem. Next, remove standing water, vacuum up puddles with a shop vacuum, and run blower fans and dehumidifiers for 24 to 72 hours. Once you've removed all traces of moisture, disinfect the area using either vinegar or bleach to kill any remaining mold spores.

Preventing future basement flooding often involves installing sump pumps, improving drainage, sealing foundation cracks, and maintaining gutters. Costs vary, but preventive measures can range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars, depending on the solutions chosen. Investing in prevention can save you money on future flooded basement cleanup costs and repairs.

Yes, it’s worth it to repair a crawl space foundation, even if the issue seems relatively minor. Foundation problems often get worse and more expensive to fix if you leave them untreated. Additionally, your entire home, from the framing and flooring to the roof system, relies on the foundation for even and level support. Issues with your foundation will almost always manifest as problems in and above your living space, so it’s important to find a solution.

Proper basement ventilation is very effective at reducing humidity. Without enough ventilation, your basement is prone to mold and moisture damage. Your basement should have as much natural ventilation via windows and doors as possible, and if your budget allows, you should also consider installing an ERV system to keep basement humidity levels at bay.

Ductwork sweats due to a temperature difference between the air inside the ducts and the surrounding air, similar to how a cold drink develops condensation in the heat. This sweating is a sign that your HVAC system is not operating at peak efficiency. The best way to keep ductwork from sweating is to wrap it in proper insulation, which also improves your system's energy efficiency. Another option is to close off your crawl space and install a dehumidifier to dry the air and lower its dew point.
