Customers say: Quick response

"Jorge Bolom and his 3 very capable workers were fantastic!! In one day, they trimmed 4 trees, including a very large black olive tree, trimmed a very difficult reclinata palm cluster, removed cardboard palms, and took down a 40 foot Norfolk pine. Jorge was fearless in the olive tree and the Norfolk pine. Reliable was extremely hard working, staying almost to dark to finish the job. Their pricing was very fair; property was completely cleaned up; I would definitely use them again and recommend Reliable to my neighbors."

"Working with this team on both a boat dock inside the home project, I found them extremely professional from the office staff/ workers project leader. They took all the time I needed to fully explain my ideas and then they made several additional recommendations (not in a pushy way) to consider to help ensure the final project was all that I expected. As the project progressed I always felt I was being updated and fully understanding each step. In many projects, unexpected issues sometimes arise but Richard took the time to explain them and let me so I could make any changes I felt were needed or could wait until another project. In the end, everything was far beyond my expectations and within budget. I fully plan to use them again have highly recommended them to all my friends and to you this review reader also."

"Mr. Nettles came out to my property within an hour or so of calling him. Gave me a fair quote and did great work. He takes pride in his work and wants to make sure his customers are satisfied. He definitely worked hard! He is also a wonderful person to speak to and have dealings with. I had him trim my palm trees, remove a giant pine with stump grinding, and remove a patch of cacti. Give Mr. Nettles a call!"

Small jobs welcome

"Work needed: Trimming oak trees, magnolia and thinning out Areca Palms. Quick response to inquiry. Received quote for services within a few hours of viewing the area that needed trimming. Urbano gave me a choice of dates for the work. Lead time was only a week, he and his crew arrived on time. They worked hard, kept work areas clear and cleaned up after all the trimming was done. We will definitely use them in the future."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

If your palm tree has spots on the leaves, rotting buds, or is beginning to turn yellow, then you have a sick tree on your hands. You should contact a palm tree specialist to identify the problem and help treat the tree if possible. Preventing diseases and pests is key to a healthy palm tree, and it's essential to take action as soon as possible if your tree is showing signs of being sick.

According to scientists at Penn State University, spotted lanternflies do not typically kill the trees and plants they feed on, but they can cause branches and segments to die off. However, they have been found to kill cultivated grapes, which can have devastating consequences for vineyard owners and regions that heavily rely on vineyards to create jobs and generate revenue. They have also killed the Ailanthu altissima, known as the tree of heaven, though this is classified as a noxious and invasive weed tree.

There are many signs that a tree is diseased or dying, and if you suspect that’s the case, you should call an arborist immediately. You might notice rot or fungus on the trunk or that the tree is beginning to lean to one side. Brittle branches or signs of root damage are other indicators that a tree is in trouble. If the tree is dying, it might be time to cut the tree down so it doesn’t fall.

It is possible to burn out a tree stump if it is dried out and in an area of your property with a large buffer. Drill holes in the stump and dig around the base so it burns more easily. Then, build a small campfire on top using kindling and firewood. You’ll need enough to keep the fire going for many hours to completely burn out the stump, especially if it’s large.

Monitor the fire closely to ensure it doesn’t spread, and have a hose on hand if it starts to get out of control. When the fire is out, break apart the burned stump and dig out what’s left of it.

If this sounds like a good option, learn more about how to burn a tree stump before attempting it, as it does come with risks.

Some trees, such as silver maples, birches, sycamores, and scotch pines, shed their bark naturally. If your tree is not one that does this, it might have fallen prey to pests, fungi, or diseases. It could also simply be suffering from an extreme weather change, such as a snowstorm or heat wave. If you’re still stumped, consulting with a pro can help you diagnose your tree’s specific problem.
