- My Handy Craftsman IncAltogether this did require two visits. The first fellow was able to do all other jobs (shutters, install new interior doorknobs and hook rack). However, he was not a carpenter. He felt that doing the larger job of the window seat would take him longer than it would the carpenter who also works for this company. We arranged another day for the carpenter to come. He did that more complicated job quickly (4 hours), neatly and professionally. While it was somewhat inconvenient to have to have work spread over two days (I had told them in the original call that it was a carpentry job), it was better to have the right person do the job. They were neat, easy to work with, responsible and professional. They were punctual and I felt the cost was fair. I would definitely use them again but perhaps be more specific about the type of craftsman I need the first time around
- J R Home ImprovementWe had an excellent experience working with J R. From the first phone call he offered to come make a free estimate later that same day. He was always extremely punctual and timely in returning calls. In person he is extremely pleasant and friendly yet maintains appropriate professionalism. He gave me a range of an estimate ($250-$480) because he said he would not know the extent of the damage until he opened the damage area and was able to inspect the structure within. I had spoken to other handymen prior, and they said the same thing but refused to give and estimate at all for that reason. And after he opened the structure he gave me a an accurate estimate and stuck with it, and it was right in the middle of the range he promised. When I called him to arrange a day to start working, he was there the first thing in the morning the following day. He did excellent work, and even did some extra for no extra charge that wasn't even in the contract (he re-mortared some of the brick exterior that he thought may have contributed to some of the problem. After my excellent experience with J R, I will absolutely be using him for all of my future handyman needs

The results are up to code and exactly as promised. If I had one negative it would be the the clean up. While 99% of the debris was removed, the 1% remaining was substantial. Bits of stucco everywhere but it's all cleaned up now. That said, the team was professional, hard-working and provided a great service. I would recommend them highly

"Our paver sealing project was going to be a challenge for Tropical Paver Sealing right from the start. Our patio is at the back of our condominium at the end of our living room. The only entrance and exit point was through our front door, off the common area of the carpeted corridor to our first floor unit. This is opposed to driving up to a house, bringing power-washing equipment up someone’s driveway or through a gate to their backyard or pool area. Our crew, J.C. and Brian were brilliant, efficient, courteous and respectful of our property. I had laid down some vinyl sheeting so their equipment and tools could be rolled in over the tiled floors and carpet to the sliding glass doors. They worked as a team and it was all the more impressive as it wasn’t just our patio that was going to be cleaned and sealed, but our neighbor’s patios as well, one on either side of ours. The entire project took from 9:30 a.m. until a little after 6:00 p.m. to do 3 separate patios and clean up took less than 10 minutes. Tropical Paver Sealing offered the best price, their well-deserved reputation and a great result! Save yourself the time and trouble of getting 3 or 4 quotes. We love a challenge. Most people consider landscaping planting trees and shrubs in the ground, but we take it to a higher level. We will have you thinking about creating an outdoor room with a pergola/arbor overhead and a stone or brick patio to set the outdoor couch on. We will design a custom fire pit with a curved stone wall to sit on which also acts as a retaining wall for the custom fountain that sits behind it. "It has taken me a while to write this review but I needed time to digest all that went thru. We contracted this company initially to complete a massive renovation of our landscape which included all the areas mentioned. The pavers work was done beautiful and we are very happy with the end result. At his advice, we added a transformer for lights to add some dimension to a retaining wall behind the fire pit in the brick patio. About 3 weeks after the job was completed, we discovered the cable from the transformer to the retaining wall was completely exposed. They never buried it and was just covered with mulch. Obviously, after a good rain, the cable showed. So thankful, it was not destroyed while cutting the lawn. Otherwise, it was money in the trash. After multiple calls, someone came and fixed the problem. For the flower bed areas, the work required to remove river rock stones, and at Andy's advice, it was replaced with sod and mulch. During the process, the brought sod - don't know from where - but it introduced crab grass everywhere in my garden beds - impossible to control. Within 2 weeks after job was done, I called and he send someone to spray weed killer. That really didn't solve the problem obviously. Upon asking why the industrial grade plastic was not installed, he felt his expertize was attacked and I decided never to contact him again. Upon leaving the job, the work was not complete (areas needed St. Augustine grass because they ran out of it, same for the mulch). Now over a year later, we have to bring another landscaper to fix all our flower bed. None of my neighbors, even the one next to our home has the crab grass issue we have. About 25% of the plants recommended and planted by this company died (they were too young), the ornamental grass grew out of control (not the best plants to plant under palm trees.) So are now, a year later, we are hiring another contractor to fix all the plant bed areas this crew did (Over $4K more) My advice, if the work that you want to be done is pavers patios, he is the Go-To person. If for landscaping, do more research before hiring him to do the job. For some plants we were charged over $40 for a 1 gallon to them finding the same plant as a reputable nursery for a fraction of it ($10).
