"Excellent. Sal showed up on time and paid close attention to detail. Assessed the paint, coordinated the colors with my wife and came early every day to beat the rain when painting the deck. Couldn't have asked for a better result. Thanks Sal."

"Luke was a gift! He responded quickly to my call and was able to start painting two days later. He was professional, knowledgeable, on time and always cognizant of the fact that I was working from home while he was painting. He meticulously painted my entire house and it looks amazing. "Excellent!! In my newly purchased home, I wanted the color in the master bedroom changed. The existing paint job was excellent - I just wanted a different color (from blue to gray). When I showed Matt my choices he made a suggestion (a warmer gray as opposed to a cooler gray for the bedroom). I am so glad I followed his advice. Matt arrived on time with all tools and materials. He removed wall plates and covered trim. He asked me to look after the first coat to make sure he was doing what I wanted. Then, when finished - it was so beautiful! The color turned out to be perfect and completely covered the old color. The job was spotless in that there were no skipped spaces and no disturbance to the already perfectly done trim and closet door (which were white). Matt is so professional and also so personable. He is a dream to work with!!

"Kane was quick to respond when I called. We discussed what I needed done, I provided pictures I was given a very fair price unlike other quotes. The crew showed up on time ready to work. They are very clean cut and very conversational. My project SPARKLES and as a result 2 of my Neighbors were so impress they hired Kane on the spot. Thatâ s 3 satisfied customers. Kane Power Washing is already booked to clean next year. If you want reliable work with attention to details call Kane and you will be just as Satisfied."

"Terrific in every way. I chose to hire these guys because I had previously purchased a "deal" by these guys, which was for 2 painters for a day, and I was very impressed by how hard they worked and what they accomplished in the designated time. So I hired them for more work I needed done. I had no difficulty scheduling. Mr Massarone and his associate were very professional. They arrived on time. This was a big and difficult job that included removing 1970s wallpaper which had been applied on almost every surface, including the kitchen ceiling. It did not strip easily. These guys did an absolutely beautiful job. The kitchen ceiling is flawless. You would never imagine what it used to look like. They finished on time. They were very neat. I would highly recommend these guys.

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

The best and fastest way to remove paint from a deck often involves combining a chemical stripper with a pressure washer. Gel-based paint strippers are highly recommended because their thick consistency makes them less messy and easier to apply than liquid strippers. After applying the stripper to loosen the paint, you can use a pressure washer to efficiently wash away the residue. When using a pressure washer for this task, it's important to use a low pressure (under 1000 PSI) to avoid forcing too much moisture into the wood, which could lead to mildew or rot.

Yes, it is possible to build a small, basic deck for $5,000, particularly if you use less expensive materials and a simple design. To stay within this budget, consider a size under 10x12 feet and use affordable materials like pressure-treated wood or cedar. While the general cost for deck building ranges from $4,350 to $12,560, with an average around $8,200, some projects can be completed for as little as $4,350. You can also save on labor costs by doing the work yourself, but be aware that mistakes could end up costing more than hiring a professional. A contractor may have a higher upfront cost, but they can ensure a safe, stable deck that will last.

Many composite decking manufacturers, including the popular Trex brand, offer warranties that protect against warping under specific conditions. These warranties typically last between 20 and 50 years, but they usually exclude claims related to improper installation of the product. Some manufacturer warranties only cover decks built by certified professionals.

While the terms deck and porch are often used interchangeably, they are two distinct structures. A porch is a covered structure, usually attached to the front of a home, that offers protection from the elements. In contrast, a deck is an open, uncovered platform, often attached to the back or side of a home. Because porches have a roof, they typically require less maintenance than decks, but both features need regular cleaning and repairs to stay in good condition.

Yes, it is generally safe to have a fire pit on a deck, but you must adhere to building codes and take several safety precautions. For both built-in and freestanding models, you must use a heat-resistant barrier, such as a fire pit pad or heat shield, between the pit and the deck. Additionally, consider the weight of the fire pit and ensure your deck can structurally support it, reinforcing it if necessary. The fire pit must also be positioned a safe distance from your house, particularly from materials like vinyl siding, to prevent heat damage.
