"Great, really good job.David Hughes of Total Home Roofing arrived very promptly and explained his company services. I really did not know about peel seal as this was my first experience of handling this myself. He made me feel comfortable and explained everything . The workmen arrived prior to 7am on the first day. Could not believe it but they worked till after 6:30pm on first day. Next day inspection. 3rd day here they came at 6:45am and finished at Noon. Amazing. Quality workmanship. I will highly recommend David and his Company "Total Home Roofing". Oh the price was very competitive with everyone else I had bids by. Thank you David."

"Frank did a fabulous job!  He responded very quickly to my request for an estimate and was able to start the job within a week of giving me the estimate.  He was punctual, very professional, and worked meticulously to complete the kitchen backsplash with the design that I wanted done.  The backsplash design included using three different tile patterns using marble and glass tile and it looks wonderful.  Frank and his son really worked as a well coordinated team and I absolutely love my backsplash.  While Frank was here I mentioned that I needed my front door locks replaced (I had the new locks already) and he said that he could do that too.   I highly recommend Frank and will definitely use him again for more home improvement projects.  Call him, you won't be disappointed!

"I called Brian because he listed himself as a handyman even though the original request was to fix a leaky kitchen faucet. He and his father-in-law Pat came over that same afternoon and fixed the problem and then some. He offered to replace the damaged wooden floorboard under the sink and replace the leaky washers in the water filtration system at little extra. After discussing some of the other projects we wanted to start, Brian and Pat offered to look at what else we needed. The estimates were very reasonable, so they started on the front and back porch projects. They did an excellent job and we were very happy with the outcome, so we asked if they would be willing to start other projects as well. One project led to another and we have had them here since January 27th. They are professional, friendly, and courteous. They know what they are doing and they do it well. I will be posting pictures too. I highly recommend them and plan to have them build a wooden canopy over the paver patio in the near future. They deserve an A+ rating."

Glass Block questions, answered by experts

Heavy glass tends to be more expensive than thin glass because it is stronger and more durable. In most cases, ¼-inch-thick glass is ideal for mirrors, and ⅛-inch-thick glass is ideal for residential windows. Heavier glass isn’t always necessary, and can be more challenging to hang or install. Work with a local window installation pro for replacement or new construction windows.

Yes, professionals can install decorative or colored glass block patterns for a unique look.

Glass block mortar is the best choice for glass block window units. It is specifically formulated for glass block window installation. Glass block mortar is usually a mixture of Portland cement, sand, and special chemicals. It is a white mortar that is applicable inside and outside your home. Do not use regular tile mortar because it may not have the binding strength and flexibility required for glass block windows.

You can still see vaguely into some types of glass block windows at night. Although there won’t be clear definitions, passersby may still see shapes, shadows, and movement through the glass. If you want complete privacy, consider installing diamond glass block windows rather than the typical clear or wavy glass blocks.

Glass block windows typically last for 15 to 30 years, which is slightly less than the 20- to 50-year lifespan of standard windows. You can extend their life by resealing them every few years. Professional installation is also key to ensuring the windows are placed correctly and will function properly for years to come. A professional installer will have the necessary skills, tools, and knowledge to install these features and can identify potential issues like damaged frames or cramped areas during a consultation.
