"William was terrific. He filled, honed, sealed and polished our travertine floors that were desperately in need of restoration. They look fabulous, better than when originally installed. He even sealed our granite countertops at no extra charge. He was very knowledgeable and respectful. I would definitely recommend him to anyone needing help with any type of stone."

"We were very pleased with the restorative work Juan, owner of Prime Stone Restoration, did on our stone floors and on our marble and granite countertops. He is very professional in all regards â in coming to discuss and estimate the projects a homeowner wants done, in arriving at the stated time to perform the work, in bringing all the right equipment, and in efficiently doing the work. He gladly shares tips on how to care for and maintain the newly restored surfaces. We had a couple of follow up questions a few months later that he came and addressed. Heâ s knowledgeable, skilled, and very nice. His charges seem fair. Weâ d gladly have him back again."

Stone Countertops questions, answered by experts

Sintered stone and quartz are both low-maintenance materials resistant to water damage and scratching. However, quartz can be damaged by temperatures over 150°F, while sintered stone is heat-resistant up to 300°F. Both materials are comparable in cost, so ultimately, the decision will hinge on your preferences.

Engineered stone is nonporous, unlike natural stone, and does not need to be sealed. You do not have to worry about etching or bacterial growth. It is more durable than natural stone and concrete, as well as highly heat resistant. Engineered stone is easy to clean and maintain. You can wipe it down with warm water and soap. Use a non-scratch scrub pad for stains and avoid any harsh cleaners. Engineered stone can even be eco-friendly, with some manufacturers using waste byproducts or organic resins.

Any surface, including a waterfall countertop, can last decades based on a few things. First is the chosen material. For instance, quartz and granite are more durable and long-lasting than marble or concrete. Proper care also plays a key role. Regular cleaning and sealing, if required, will help any counter resist stains and damage over time.

There are several significant differences between laminate and quartz countertops. Quartz is much pricier than laminate but can last for decades, while laminate lasts around 15 years. Laminate can’t be repaired or resealed and is easier to damage than quartz, which can be repaired. Both quartz and laminate are prone to heat damage. Usually, the choice comes down to your budget.

While Caesarstone countertops are heat-resistant, placing hot pots directly on them is not recommended. Extreme heat can cause thermal shock, potentially leading to cracks or discoloration. Always use trivets or heat pads to protect the surface and maintain its appearance and integrity. This precaution helps ensure the longevity of your Caesarstone countertop.
