"Need a tree cut down? This is a fabulous company that won't disappoint you. We just had Central Florida Tree Pros cut down a large tree, plus trim some palm trees, in Bunnell. Excellent job. Highly recommend. They did a great job on the large tree which needed a tree climber. Their crew was hard-working and left the yard neat as a pin. If you want the best job done...call Central Florida Tree Pros. P.S. The owner Frank is very nice and prices are very fair. Thanks guys for the great job you did."

"Cal and crew arrived on time. They did an excellent job of trimming and thinning the branches of a huge camphor tree that was hanging over our house and brushing the neighbor's roof. The tree looks great and he gave us some pointers about the maintenance of it. They also cleaned the dead fronds and seed pod looking things from our palms. They removed all the debris when they were finished and the yard never looked better. I highly recommend Atlantic Tree Service and will definitely be calling them back when the trees need trimming again.

"Needed a WDO inspection of our crawl space. From initial contact with the office everything was handled with courtesy and professionalism. Very quick turn around for a scheduled inspection appointment. CHRIS, the technician called ahead to confirm he was on his way. Arrived on time and completed a thorough inspection, answering all my questions and eliminating my concerns. We scheduled an appointment for next month for him to return and spray a biocide treatment in the crawl space. Exceptional customer service and reasonably priced. VERY happy with this company!!"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

A tree growing close to a house can pose several risks, but removal isn't always the only or best solution. Potential problems include roots growing into the foundation and causing structural cracks, branches damaging the roof or promoting moss growth, and debris clogging gutters, which can lead to water damage. Trees can also provide access for pests and encourage mold. However, a small, healthy tree may not be a problem, and for larger, established trees, strategic trimming can be a cheaper and more beneficial alternative to removal. It is generally recommended to take action for trees within 10 to 20 feet of your home, especially if they are unhealthy or encroaching. Your best bet is to consult a professional arborist who can assess the specific situation and provide expert advice.

In most cases, you should not use a pruning seal on trees after trimming. Applying a sealant can interfere with the tree's natural healing process, and it does not guarantee protection from pathogens. Instead of sealing the cut, the best practice is to support the tree's natural recovery by providing it with plenty of water and a dormant-style fertilizer. However, there are exceptions. Pruning seals may be recommended for very vulnerable species, like elm trees, in areas where dangerous diseases such as Dutch elm disease are prevalent. In these specific situations, the protection offered by a sealant can outweigh its downsides. For advice tailored to your situation, especially after cutting large branches, it is best to consult a local tree trimming professional.

How often and long you should water a tree depends on the species and if it is mature or newly planted. The amount of water is also based on the tree's size. A good rule of thumb is approximately 5 gallons per inch of the trunk's diameter.

Adjusting watering to the recommended suggestions for the tree type and weather conditions is vital. For instance, watering trees during a drought is necessary, and you may need to water more frequently than usual.

Since overwatering can harm mature trees just as much as a lack of water, it’s important to know the signs of an overwatered tree. If your tree’s leaves are yellowing, wilting, or dropping leaves, it’s likely that you’re overwatering. Other common signs include rotting, fungi, soggy soil, soft or peeling bark, falling leaves, and brittle roots.

If you realize that you’ve been overwatering your mature tree, stop watering and give the soil time to dry out. Then moving forward, increase time between watering sessions.

Dead tree branches should be removed, because they can cause the tree to lose nutrients. They can also make the tree more susceptible to disease and pests. Removing dead and diseased branches can help the tree recover and increase the odds of saving a dying tree. Make sure to prune the tree correctly to avoid damaging it further.
