Small jobs welcome

"I had a LVF job for the entire 1st floor and stairs, which came out great! Then I hired him again to lay the porcelain and ceramic tiles in my master bathroom after having all the plumbing moved around. It came out spectacular! Highly recommend Manny! He is very detailed oriented!"

"They showed up when they said they would and immediately went to work. They wiped the baseboards, around the tops of the doors, washed the doors, dusted, polished, and cleaned all surfaces, vacuumed, mopped, and made my house sparkle. They began cleaning at one end of the house and finished up in my kitchen. They were worried when they couldn't get my white ceramic kitchen tiles (with white grout) as clean as they wanted. I told them that the floors were better looking than when I clean them and also let them know that I have a tile cleaning service come in once a year to get them bright white again. I foster cats so there were furry dustballs floating around and they managed to make them disappear. They were not bothered by the friendlier cats coming around to "investigate" their work. When I checked out Angie's List on cleaning services, I noticed one negative review was written on MB Cleaning. I put that review in perspective because of the many other great reviews--sure glad I did that because I found out the great reviews were spot on correct. I had used another nationally known service earlier this year but was so unhappy with them that I almost gave up on finding a good cleaning service. Because Mandy and Lorileee took pride in their work and did a superior job, I have hired them to clean my house every other week. I really don't think I could have found a better cleaning service!

"Tom works with his brother, and another family member. They were prompt and efficient, and did a beautiful job. Tom is very professional and easy to work with. He and his crew work steadily and carefully until the job is completed. Their clean-up process was excellent. My home has very high vaulted ceilings, especially the stairway to the second floor, but they handled that part of the job with ease. I have had many compliments on the paint and decor. The walls look beautiful. Overall, I was very happy with the experience I had with TNT."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

When cleaning porcelain tiles, avoid products that contain ammonia, bleach, and other harsh chemicals. Acid-based cleansers can damage the tile, though you can clean them with a diluted mixture of one-quarter cup white vinegar mixed with one gallon of hot water. It is important always to use a soft-bristled brush or sponge, since hard bristles and steel wool can scratch the tile.

It’s best to install a shower door after the bathroom tile is in place to ensure you have accurate measurements. If you try installing a shower door first, the tile might be too thick to install afterward, or the tile will be too thin and create a gap between the shower doors that allows water to leak. With the tile in place first, you’ll know the exact shower door size that you need.

Add a T-shaped spacer to each corner of a tile when placing it. You’ll want to nudge the tiles closer together so the spacers are touching each corner. When you’re done installing your tile, you can remove each spacer, wash them, and use them for your next project.

Yes, you can tile a shower as a DIY project, and you can save hundreds of dollars in labor costs by doing so. However, you’ll need to rent or buy quite a few tools and supplies for the job, including a saw, tile nippers, and a new shower pan. In terms of the work itself, you should be prepared to tackle a variety of different tasks, including measuring and ordering materials, removing old tile, waterproofing the wall, adding rows of tile, grouting, and more.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.
