"The installer's name is Julio Martinez and he was very precise in his work. There were no pieces of my laminate flooring that didn't get placed evenly and accurately. He was patient and professional. He cleaned up the debris and was even helpful when we had to move some things around. I highly recommend him and when I plan to get the other rooms done, he will be called!!"

"We used Georgia Floors Direct's recommended carpet installer, Jr. McDuffie. All transactions with both the store and installer went flawlessly. David, at the store, was extremely helpful making everything easy and Jr. is a highly experienced, professional carpet layer. We have had carpet laid multiple times in our lives and this experience was certainly one of the most pleasant. We highly recommend Georgia Floors Direct. Kudos to both store & installer - great work!"

"Excellent experience with Jeff. He carefully reviewed my job and made some great cost saving suggestions. He repaired several places in my driveway and walk where pavers had bulged from root growth or sunk due to settling. He even replaced some mortar in my steps without additional charge. I will definitely use him again and recommend him to others."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Figure out how much tile you need by measuring the backsplash area. Measure the height and length in feet and multiply to get the square footage. Don’t make adjustments for outlets or small cutouts but subtract the square footage for windows or other large obstructions from the total. To account for waste, get 10% more than your calculation.

Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.

Thinset mortar is the best adhesive for ceramic tiles on concrete. It is easy to work with and has a slower dry time than mastic or epoxy mortars. This longer dry time gives the installer more time to adjust tiles, which is especially useful for DIYers who may not have tile installation experience. It can also be built up to help level any depressions or gaps in the concrete subfloor.

The rule tells you how to cut tile to install it in a corner. The 3/4/5 rule recommends that you should have 3 feet across on one straight line, four feet on the other perpendicular line, and 5 feet of length from the end of one of the lines to the other. You’re making a right triangle with the tile, and the hypotenuse (the line across from where the 3-foot lie and 4-foot line meet) should be 5 feet long.

There are several low-maintenance shower floor tiles to consider for your bathroom. Stone tiles are easy to keep clean and only need an occasional resealing to keep them looking their best. Porcelain is another low-maintenance choice, as it doesn’t stain easily. Vinyl is also suitable for easy upkeep. On the other hand, one of the highest maintenance options for bathrooms is wood tile.
