Small jobs welcome

"Showed up just as promised for a few days of repairs on the summer cottage. Cleared an old storage attachment to the house, replaced and repaired some rotten trim boards and cedar shingles, a lot of painting on the trim and some window repair. No problems, gave a good price and stuck to it."

"Kurt showed up on time and installed a shower door for my new Shower! He was very professional and kind with a very low cost to perform work that other carpenters turned down! He was very thorough and professional! I was so fortunate and lucky to have such a professional help me on this install when so many turned the task down! He cleaned up the area and spent sometime assisting me on another project in near future! I highly recommend Kurt to anyone who requires a job completed to Professional done with amazing expertise and very reasonable price! Thank you Sir! Leo USN RET"

"Chuck Roddy is a consummate professional - knowledgeable, confident, and highly skilled. He personifies old fashioned values of trust, reliability, and perfection in his work. He is also down to earth, very likable, kind, and exhibits sincerity in his interaction with a customer. He goes the extra mile to make everything precisely right! In my case, I have an older house, which still had an original threshold on one of the main entry doors. It was in bad shape and there was too much air coming in at the bottom. Mr. Roddy advised me on what hardware to buy, and came and performed the job. As with older houses, sometimes the job requires more work. He did not hesitate and removed the door, trimmed the bottom to square it up with the new threshold. He even volunteered to put paint on the top and bottom edges of the door to seal it from dampness. I am 100% satisfied with his work and the price. I have total confidence in Mr. Roddy, and I would say that you can, too!"

"I bought a deal from Angie's list. The technician did good job to clean, maintain and inspect the roof. He found a small leak on the roof and told me they will come back to fix the leak for $268. They will come to fix the problem tomorrow.

Greenhouses questions, answered by experts

In most cases, wait three to five days to repot or relocate a plant from a greenhouse or nursery. That way, your plant has time to recover from any shock during the move and adapt to the conditions in and around your home. Some hearty plants may not need as long, and delicate plants might need several weeks. You should ask the professional at your nursery for a recommended timeline. Consider asking about an initial watering schedule to help stimulate root growth and promote a healthy plant.

Eco-friendly materials include sustainably-sourced woods, recycled metals, low-VOC paints, and non-toxic sealants, which reduce environmental impact. Using these in repairs promotes sustainability and can improve indoor air quality and overall building health.

Minor fixes like patching leaks or repainting are DIY-friendly, but structural repairs require professional expertise.

Adding burnt charcoal to your garden beds and plant pots can yield several benefits, but there are risks involved, too. Charcoal, particularly biochar, can enhance soil structure, improve water drainage, and increase nutrient retention. When activated, charcoal provides key nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. However, burnt charcoal, especially from briquettes, can inadvertently alter soil's pH levels and become hazardous to plants. Overall, there are better and less risky soil amendments available, such as vermiculite, perlite, or wood chips.

The quickest way you can protect plants and trees from frost is to cover them with garden blankets or frost cloths. Also, bringing potted plants or trees indoors is much simpler than trying to cover and protect them outdoors. Remember to anchor blankets with something such as sandbags, fabric pins, or rocks if the forecast calls for strong winds to keep them from blowing away and exposing your trees and plants.
