"Highly recommend this company. Our house was built in 2020 and the hardwoods were installed by TPA Hardwood Flooring Systems during the build. Unfortunately, due to problems with excess moisture the floors buckled in one area of the dining room. When we bought our house, it was purchased â as isâ meaning the builder and contractors had no obligation to come back and fix any issues. Our builder connected us with Eddie, the owner of TPA Hardwood. Not only did Eddie agree to repair the buckled flooring, but he also sanded down and refinished all of the flooring in the main area of our home. This was a 5 day job that required new flooring, and at least 40 hours of labor. Eddie not only covered the cost of the material, but also covered the labor. I offered to cover the cost of material and he wouldnâ t allow it. They have completed the repair and refinishing of our floors (5 full days of work with multiple guys) and the house looks brand new again. Companies like this are incredibly hard to come by. I would truly recommend Eddie and TPA Hardwood Flooring Systems to anybody looking to repair, refinish, or install hardwood floors. We are so grateful for all of their hard work and integrity. Thank you Eddie!"

Flooring Installation questions, answered by experts

Coordinating flooring installation with other home upgrades in Orlando, such as HVAC updates, kitchen remodels, or weatherproofing, can help minimize disruptions and maximize efficiency. By planning projects together, you can reduce contractor visits, streamline debris removal, and potentially access discounts on materials. Pairing flooring with energy efficiency improvements or storm-proofing measures also adds value and prepares your home for Orlando’s seasonal weather challenges.

Helpful?

In Orlando, luxury vinyl plank, engineered hardwood, porcelain tile, and sealed concrete are excellent flooring materials due to their resistance to humidity and moisture. Use moisture-resistant underlayments, vapor barriers, and adhesives designed for humid environments. Employing dehumidifiers and moisture meters during installation helps ensure proper conditions. These choices help your floors withstand Orlando’s frequent rain, high humidity, and occasional flooding events.

Helpful?

Be wary of quotes from Orlando flooring contractors that lack details on moisture testing, subfloor preparation, or specific material recommendations for humid climates. If a professional doesn’t address local weather impacts or skips discussing vapor barriers, that’s a concern. Avoid those who request full payment upfront, pressure you for quick decisions, or can’t provide local references. Transparent estimates and climate-aware planning are signs of a reputable contractor.

Helpful?

In Orlando, homeowners often overlook subfloor moisture testing, skip acclimating flooring materials to local humidity, or neglect vapor barrier installation. Choosing solid hardwood over engineered wood in high-humidity areas can lead to warping. Rushing flooring installation during rainy months or failing to account for expansion gaps are frequent errors. Not planning for long-term maintenance in FL’s climate can also result in premature flooring issues.

Helpful?

Orlando’s humid, subtropical climate requires careful moisture management for flooring installation. Frequent afternoon storms and high humidity can delay drying times and affect adhesives, making moisture testing and acclimation critical steps. Hurricane season may cause unexpected project delays, so scheduling during drier winter months is often ideal. Engineered wood and moisture-resistant flooring materials are recommended for stability and long-term performance in Orlando’s unique climate.
