"Super professional, super clean, super quick, super reasonable. I am really happy my neighbors recommended Trust EB Plumbing Services. I will definitely call again when I need plumbing service. They are such a pleasure to work with, took away the old softener, installed and started up the new softener and left everything very clean."

"Phillips came out to clear a clogged sewer line that backed up my shower and two sinks. I called in the morning and spoke to the owner who was very very nice. He had two techs out within two hours. They took about 45 minutes and cleared the lines. They also kept me very informed on what was happening and taught me a little bit about my plumbing system. They also recommended that I contact a tile person to ensure the shower that was remodeled before we purchased the house was installed correctly. No plumbers are cheap, but their price was in line with what I've paid for the time in the past. I'd rather give my money to a company that has been around this long and has knowledgeable career plumbers working for them. I would recommend and use Phillips again in the future."

Sewer Cleaning questions, answered by experts

It's advisable to have your sewer line inspected every three to five years to ensure its proper functioning and detect any potential issues early on. However, the frequency of inspections can vary based on factors such as the age of your sewer system, the type of pipes used, and your property's location. If you notice any warning signs like slow drains, foul odors, or sewage backups, it's essential to schedule an inspection promptly, regardless of the regular maintenance schedule.

The cost to clean a sewer line is about $370, ranging from about $190 to $550 on average. The specific cleaning method and the problem's severity will impact the project's overall cost. Some of the most common sewer line cleaning methods include:

  • Snaking or rodding: $100–$250

  • Hydrojetting: $350–$600

  • Chemical treatments: $600–$1,000

  • Repair or replacement: $1,000–$7,500

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.

Sewer gas in any location can cause eye and respiratory irritation if you’re exposed at low levels, or more severe symptoms if you’re exposed at high levels—but fortunately, the fresh air outside means it’s less likely to affect your physical health. However, sewer smells outside can still indicate significant plumbing problems that will need to be dealt with, such as a potentially damaged sewer line or roof vent pipe.

Avoid flushing non-degradable items, schedule regular inspections, and address minor clogs promptly.
