"Albert and Richard were OUTSTANDING. They assessed the work that needed doing, gave a fair estimate, and got right to work. They went to Lowe's to get materials as I had NO IDEA what exactly we needed to get the job done, so they did materials and labor. reframed 2 closet doors, installed undersink plywood, painted around my vents in the ceiling, installed a doorstop and drywalled and patched a hole behind my front door, as well as refitting two garage ceiling panels. All in all, I could not have asked for better contractors. They finished the work in good time and were pleasant and friendly. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND and I will be using the again for my handy man needs. Thanks guys!!!"

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

Generally speaking, you should expect to wait 24 to 48 hours after filling a pool before you use it. However, the actual timeline depends on a few factors. Most importantly, you need to shock the water with chlorine or an alternative to swimming pool chlorine and let the concentration come down to a safe level before using the pool. Additionally, most water sources will be cold, and it can take days before the sun or your pool heater warms your water to a comfortable temperature. Alternatively, getting water professionally delivered could have you swimming in just a few hours.

No, shock and chlorine are not the same thing, though they are related and both are used for pool maintenance. Regular chlorine, often in the form of tablets, is a sanitizer used for routine, day-to-day maintenance to keep a steady chlorine level. Pool shock, however, is a highly concentrated dose of chlorine used periodically for a more intense cleaning. It rapidly raises chlorine levels to fix issues like cloudy water or algae growth and also eliminates chloramines, which are byproducts of regular chlorination. Because their purposes and concentrations differ, they are not interchangeable, and proper pool care typically requires using both.

Whether your homeowners insurance covers a pool leak depends on your specific policy, so it's essential to check your policy documents before taking on any repairs. Typically, leaks caused by a covered event, such as a fallen tree branch or a fire, may be covered. However, leaks resulting from general wear and tear or poor maintenance are usually not. It is also a good practice to review your homeowners insurance policy before installing a pool to fully understand your personal liability and coverage.

At noon, when the sun is at its highest point, sunlight can naturally increase the temperature of a pool by 0.7 degrees each hour, but this can depend on other external factors. For example, evaporation caused by the sun will cause a pool to lose up to 5 degrees for every 1/2 inch of water evaporated. Using a water heater will produce more reliable results.

If you frequently use your swimming pool, an annual inspection is ideal. For pools over 20 years old, get an inspection twice a year. If you have a new pool, are selling your house, or your property went through a severe weather event, schedule a pool inspection as soon as possible.
