"Worthmann Roofing installed a new metal roof on our home. There was a part that needed additional work but unfortunately, it rained before it could be completed and some damage was done. Worthmann Roofing FULLY STOOD behind their warranty and repaired the affected. Additionally, I would like to mention that the restoration company, Morales Restoration, was SO good. They cleaned, mopped and left our home clean and as good as of it had never happened. Last but not least, a special “Thank you” to Joey with Worthmann Roofing for your guidance in getting this done. We truly do appreciate it!"

"Andy, Chris, Daisy, and the 7-man roofing crew were professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. They did an outstanding job, excellent price, and not one piece of roofing material or nails in the flower beds or lawn. Andy and Chris kept in communication with me throughout the entire project. They also took care of the new gutters for me. Absolutely no hesitation in recommending Florida Top Shield Roofing!"

"I had an excellent experience. From the initial consultation to the final application, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and very thorough. They took the time to explain the roof protection process and answered all my questions. The crew arrived on time, worked efficiently, and paid close attention to detail. I know have the peace of mind knowing my roof is now better protected from Florida’s harsh sun and storms. "I would highly recommend Century Roofing. They came out the same day I called to put a tarp over my roof. Steve came back the next day to double check that the tarp was still on properly before the storm. He gave me options of how to go about fixing my roof. I plan on hiring them to redo my roof after the hurricane passes. I am very pleased with this company."

Homeowners insurance sometimes covers roof decking, but it depends on the cause of damage and whether the decking was properly installed. If the roof decking was damaged by a severe storm, then it will likely be covered. Insurance may also pay for roof decking work if building codes require it. However, insurance won’t cover damage caused by normal wear and tear or poor maintenance practices.

No, you should not close or cover your gable vents in the winter. While it might seem logical to block cold air, heating your home creates hot air that rises and can cause condensation in the attic. If the vents are covered, this moisture becomes trapped, creating an ideal environment for mold and mildew. Keeping the gable vents open ensures proper ventilation, which helps dry out the attic, maintain even temperatures, and prevent moisture-related damage.

While there are many benefits to installing a metal roof on your home, there are some downsides, too. Zinc roofs, in particular, are susceptible to corrosion from overly salty air directly near coastal areas. Another potential downside of zinc roofing is that it must be allowed to expand and contract with the weather. This means special attention is necessary to how it's fastened to the home to avoid issues.

A roof's ability to handle snow depends on its strength and the snow's weight, as wet snow is much heavier than dry, fluffy snow. While designs in snowy regions often allow for 35 to 50 pounds per square foot, a general guideline is that a typical roof can withstand about four feet of fresh snow, two feet of packed snow, or just one inch of ice. Factors like the roof's age, slope, and support structure also affect its capacity; newer, sloped roofs generally hold more weight than older, flat ones. Ice and ice dams add significant, dangerous weight. Because capacity varies, it is best to contact a professional roofing contractor or the original builder to determine the maximum snow load for your specific home.

The average cost to winterize a house is about $250, but it can range from $65 to $1,000 depending on the type of work that needs to be done. For homeowners that are experienced DIYers, it can save quite a bit on costs. However, you shouldn’t attempt tasks you aren’t familiar with or are potentially dangerous.
