With over two decades of experience BG American Plumbing is the right solution for you. Family owned and based in south Florida with the cheapest prices around. Feel free to contact us any time.

"I am currently looking for less expensive home insurance, and knew that a 4-point inspection would not pass my 20 year old water heater. Referring to Angi, and sifting thru the 5 star rated companies, I spoke to half a dozen, then got a hold of BG-American and spoke to Zack. He asked very important questions no other company did- where is it, what gallon size, what is the width and height, asked for a couple of pics, etc. This was all VERY important, as size mattered greatly in if a new tank would fit, and how much re-working of piping was necessary. Bottom line, in 1 1/2 hours I had a new water heater installed. I could not be happier, and HIGHLY recommend this company for their superlative service and price!!!"

"Repairing my pipes under my sink… I had an awful leak. Scotty Greulich was a great technician. Unfortunately I called at a very late time, he came very promptly. Soon as he was able to make it. Explain what the problem was fixed it everything was good to go. He waited for me to work my garbage disposal and make sure that everything was working properly. I have his card hopefully there won’t be any problem again.. but if there is I know I can call Scotty. Gisela Nicholas In Fort Lauderdale"

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

A cistern works by collecting rainwater from your gutters and downspouts and storing it in a holding tank. The holding tank can be installed above or below ground, and the size will depend on your household needs. The stored water can then be used for household tasks, watering your garden, and even for drinking water.

Yes, you can replace a concrete septic tank lid with a plastic riser. A plastic riser will offer easier access to your tank when it’s time for pumping or repairs. However, since concrete is heavy and hard to handle, this is a job best left to the pros and not a DIYer.

Yes, you can pump a septic tank too much. The ideal pumping schedule varies based on capacity, water usage, and household size. If you pump the septic tank more frequently than your recommended pumping schedule, the beneficial bacteria can leach into the drain field, causing an imbalance and solid waste build-up.

The precharged pressure tank should start at around 28 psi. The two pressure settings of note are the cut-in and cut-out pressure. The well pump starts when the tank reaches the minimum cut-in pressure. It turns off when the tank reaches the maximum cut-out pressure. The desired water pressure in the household is usually a few psi above the cut-in number. The difference between the cut-in and cut-out pressure settings should be 20 psi. Typical settings for household applications include 20/40, 30/50, and 40/60.

If you aren’t sure if you have a septic tank or a cesspit, you can check your property records or inspect your drainage system. A septic tank has an outlet pipe that allows liquid to drain into a soakaway or drain field, while a cesspit is a sealed tank that requires frequent emptying. If you notice a manhole cover and no nearby drainage field, it’s likely a cesspit. Signs like slow drainage or a frequent need for pumping can also provide clues. A professional inspection is the easiest way to confirm if your home runs on a septic tank or cesspit.
