"Mr Atencio was so helpful with my very small project, cutting an old Corian counter to accommodate a slightly larger slide-in stove. He gave me a free estimate, paying close attention to the measurements of the new opening. He showed me pictures of some jobs he recently done, and they were certainly impressive. His estimate was more than fair. He was very punctual. While making the necessary cuts, he minimized dust by tenting the space around the area. He vacuumed the area after he finished, leaving no trace of dust behind. Mr. Atencio is friendly and takes great pride in his work. I would definitely hire him for any future projects."

"I highly recommend this company for granite repair. They promptly responded to my request and scheduled an appointment for the very next day. They arrived on time, were extremely professional, and repaired my granite countertop so flawlessly that you can’t even tell where the crack had been. The pricing was very reasonable, and the quality of the workmanship was pristine. Reliable, skilled, and highly professional from start to finish."

"Ricky was very knowledgeable and easy to work with. We were building an addition to our home to move our elderly father in with us and we needed a vanity for his bathroom. It was an odd size and we sent Ricky a picture of what we needed and he built it to precisely what we wanted. He said that it would take 1-2 weeks and had it finished and installed in less than a week. I will absolutely use him again when we remodel our two other bathrooms."

Countertops and Backsplashes questions, answered by experts

Yes, quartzite is heat-resistant, so you can put hot pots and pans on top without risking damage.

The angle at which you cut countertops depends on the material, your intended outcome, and the location of the cut. For example, rather than cutting a straight 90-degree angle for internal corners, cut edges at a 45-degree angle to give a clean, professional look. For outside edges, most homeowners want squared-off sides, so 90-degree angles can make the most sense there. Because you want to get angles exactly right to minimize seams and eliminate the need for patching, be sure to measure several times before cutting and use the right equipment to get sharp, accurate angles.

Granite countertops cost an average of $3,250 compared to $2,250 for tile countertops. Granite is also harder to DIY than tile, given its weight and bulk, which increases the overall labor cost of installation. Over time, both types of countertops may need sealing to remain resistant to water, heat, and other common kitchen elements.

Baking soda can damage some countertops, but it makes an excellent mild abrasive for removing stains on other countertops. For example, never use baking soda on quartz or glass countertops, but you can use it on laminate and tile. Stay away from using it on quartz because it can scratch and damage the counter, and glass is prone to scratches. Since baking soda is a mild abrasive, you can only use it on certain surfaces.

Fortunately, there are many types of heatproof countertops. Granite, quartzite, concrete, and stainless steel are all fiery contenders. These surfaces work best in busy kitchens where hot pots, pans, and baking sheets are part of the daily routine. Plus, their durability means you get a long-lasting work surface that won’t flinch at a bit of heat or heavy use. However, many stone and concrete counters require a sealer, which is typically not heatproof.
