"AVOID!! Edwin and his band of thugs are thieves. I, unfortunately, inherited their assignment during a home sale where the previous owner contracted them for a drain field replacement and a new septic line. They often abandoned the project and ultimately ran late by months. During that time, Edwin provided to be a poor communicator, failed inspections (!!), and overcharged us by $600. After reconciling our billing and bringing the discrepancy to Edwin's attention, he admitted an accounting error and agreed to pay us back. Two months later, he decided he was going to retroactively charge us for a job that was never approved, invoiced, or actually performed, and if we wanted the remaining balance, he threatened me by demanding that I visit his office to pick it up in person. During that terrible experience, his tech also managed to flood my entire garage when attempting to remedy a small leak near our washer. Edwin and his team have proven to be irresponsible, negligent, and thoroughly untrustworthy. Stay away!"

"Very well - Castor Construction Group was very efficient, professional and responsive--a little pricey but they did excellent work and were very pleasant and accommodating--especially Dennis and his father Rafael (Castor is a family business) who are the owners. Shortly after we called, they came out to the house and gave us a free estimate, which was very professionally written up and emailed to us. For example, a 1,000-gallon septic tank is the minimum size for most 1-, 2-, or 3-bedroom homes, and costs between $900 and $1,500. However, the tank is only one part of the septic system—which costs significantly more to install. If you’re setting up a new septic system (rather than replacing an existing tank), you can expect to pay about $7,310 on average. Costs can be higher depending on the type of septic system you choose.

When a septic tank is full, it needs to be professionally pumped. The average cost of a one-time septic tank pump is about $400, or $0.30 per gallon. If your septic tank is full, you may notice that you have issues flushing your toilet, pipes are draining very slowly, or you have a sewage smell lingering in your home or yard.

Your septic tank naturally contains good bacteria, and you won’t really need to do much to put good bacteria in the septic tank. You can use additives like active yeast, rotten tomatoes, or store-bought septic enzymes or chemicals if you’d like, but typically, the system will produce beneficial bacteria on its own. The best way to keep that bacteria thriving is to avoid using chemical drain cleaners, which can kill off the good bacteria in the septic tank.

There are a couple of ways you can determine the depth of your well. One method is to use a device called a well sounder. This tool has a long measuring tape containing a sensor to alert you once the end reaches the water. 

Or you can DIY it by using a long tape measure with a half-filled bottle of water attached to it. Lower the tape measure into your well. Once you feel tension on the tape, you’ll know the bottle has reached your static water level. This will give you an approximate idea of your well’s depth.
