"The first three firms i contacted before using HomeAdvisor were not going to be able to deal with our emergency for a month or more. Glenn from Royal Flush called me from the Angi inquiry and said he be here in an hour or an hour and a half. It was an hour on the dot. He was thoroughly professional, diagnosed and solved the problem, and charged more than $100 less than another bid I received. Bravo Glenn and A Royal Flush!"

"I first contacted Snapper Plumbing around Christmas last year. I had a blocked line and I put draining into the pipes and it was clear. Kieth came out because I asked him to be sure. He arrived and checked things out and did not charge me a cent. I called him last week and the line was plugged and he came out and cleared it and then came back again. I was not home so he had access to my home and did his job. He had been recommended by my neighbor and we are very pleased"

"Alex was such a professional. He explained each repair so I could understand it and gave me the price before proceeding. He completed all of the work and didn't rush to get to the next job and cleaned up leaving the areas as they were, if not more clean, than before he did the work. I give them my highest recommendation for quality work at fair prices."

"Lazaro was very professional, he gave me a fair estimate, he showed up on time to do the work, he used a concrete saw to cut the driveway, he found the issue and fixed it. He cleaned everything after he finished and explained to me the work as he was doing it."

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

If you're dealing with a clogged sink drain, you may be able to avoid removing the drain by using a plunger to dislodge the clog. While we associate plungers with toilets, they can do the same job with your sink drain. Be gentle, though, as forceful movements can push clogs further into your plumbing system and make them more difficult to remove. Additionally, make sure you’re using a sink plunger—with a flat bottom—and not a toilet plunger—which has a smaller bottom protruding from the larger flat piece.

A clogged sewer line is not typically covered by homeowner’s insurance, though some sewer line issues are covered. For instance, damage related to a fallen tree is usually covered. Though sewer line replacement is not covered in a standard insurance policy, some companies offer add-ons for this purpose. Read the fine print before spending your own money.

Common causes include hair buildup, soap residue, food particles, and foreign objects. Older pipes can also contribute by facilitating buildup more easily.

Liquid drain cleaners are harsh chemicals that can erode your pipes. To treat a slow drain or for preventative maintenance, pour hot water down the drain to break up gunk and help move it along. Make sure the water isn’t boiling hot (keep it under 140 degrees Fahrenheit) if you have plastic pipes. However, you’ll need to pull the clog out for bigger backups.

Once you’ve poured the baking soda and vinegar into a drain, you should wait about 10 minutes for the mixture to break down the clog. If you try the baking soda and vinegar method and it doesn't work, you can do it again or try the baking soda and salt trick.
