Customers say: Quick response

"Very professional. The owner returned my tree removal request promptly on Thursday. Inspected the job site on Friday. Completed removing three very large trees and trimming another on Saturday. Crew arrived at first light, installed caution signage and cones, worked continuously and efficiently without heavy equipment until finished. Clean up was excellent with only a dusting of sawdust remaining."

"Had a tree that county wouldnâ t touch that was in easement. Part of it came down during Irma and took out my shed. Then another big branch came down during Ian. So it was time to get rid of it. Communication is very good, does a great job. Makes sure they clean up after themselves. Had Areca palm trees that county did not pickup and they hauled those away for me when they left."

Arborists questions, answered by experts

The amount of time it takes for a tree trunk to rot depends on several factors, including the tree’s size, species, and environmental conditions. It can take anywhere from a few years to several decades for a tree’s trunk to rot. A tree stump, on the other hand, can take up to 10 years to disappear after it’s decayed naturally.

Pruning is an effective way to prevent a diseased branch from infecting the rest of the tree. If the infection isn’t caught early enough and the pathogen has spread to the trunk or the majority of the branches though, it is too late to prune off the affected areas and you’ll likely need to remove the tree.

If it’s your property, then you can plant a tree near power lines, but it’s not the best idea. Any vegetation that grows within 10 feet or so of power lines will fall under the responsibility of the utility company, and they may trim or remove it as necessary. If you do move forward with your plan, try to choose a smaller ornamental tree, plant it as far away from the power lines as you can, and keep it trimmed to avoid future problems.

After a big storm, you may not be sure if a tree was struck or not. Look for the telltale long scars, like strips or gouges in the bark of the tree, running in sometimes jagged lines down the length of the trunk. These scars will often show vulnerable living wood inside the tree. It’s also common to see scorched or wilted leaves on the side or top of the tree where lightning struck.

Tree borers are difficult to control and remove once they make a home in your tree. However, with patience and determination, some methods can slow the damage or even eliminate the pests. But, once the damage is too much for the tree to handle, the only solution becomes removing it. Talk to a tree specialist early for the best chance at saving your tree.
