"This company is way beyond good. Ricky assessed our longtime problem and quickly gave us his recommendations and a reaonable quote. We had spent money on two other companies who did nothing to solve the problem and didn't bother to call us back when we complained. Ricky is an outstanding professional and had our entire sprinkler system up and working better than we thought possible in one day! The lawn had to be torn up in places to run wires but his guys put the sod all back like new. What a wonderful company this was to work with. They answered all our questions, gave prompt callbacks, and we have hired him back for another project. If you want your irrigation system working like it should or want some landscaping done Ricky is the man to call. We were so happy that we found him! Wish we could give him ten stars."

"Jeff the owner from Family Shield came to my home and assessed my lawn and immediately informed me of what he thought was going on with my lawn. Which lined up with my assessment. Everyone in the office has been very polite and has treated me with kindness and respect! I will post in a couple of months and let you know how my lawn is progressing! My first treatment begins this week! This is a family owned company and they have been remarkable!"

"I think they treated the wrong lawn. The note they sent me via text message referenced trees and shrubs in my yard, I have none. They also did not leave a yard marker showing they had been there. Otherwise, this would have been a 5 star review."

Lawns questions, answered by experts

Using a leaf blower is often the easiest way to pick up leaves. It quickly and efficiently gathers leaves into manageable piles, requiring less physical effort than manual raking. Additionally, you can choose to bag the collected leaves or use a mulching mower to break them down into natural mulch, simplifying the cleanup process further.

Excavators work in tandem with dump trucks to haul away excess dirt and soil. The excavator will dig into the ground and move the excess dirt into a pile. Using a backhoe, the specialist can fill a truck with excavated soil from that pile. They will then drive the truck to a different location where they can dump the material.

Yes, it's perfectly safe and environmentally sound to mulch leaves with a lawn mower, provided that the layer of leaves isn't too thick and the leaves are dry and crispy. Too many wet leaves get sticky and will clog the mower. Thick layers of leaves can suffocate the lawn after the leaves have been mulched, so the layer should be no more than six inches thick.

Skunks like to forage for grubs in the soil, like worms and insects, but they are also tempted by trash and pet food bowls, so keeping these items out of sight may help keep skunks away. Skunks also like to set up a den in dark places, such as a crawl space or outbuilding.

Your dog’s diet plays a major role in the amount of nitrogen in the dog’s urine. A high-protein diet leads to higher nitrogen levels because digesting proteins break down the protein and form nitrogen as a result.

You should also ensure that your dog is drinking plenty of water. Staying hydrated naturally helps dilute nitrogen concentrations in urine—not to mention, it’s better for your dog’s health.
